Hey my uncle volunteered to build me a new computer of my own, he will provide everything except for that he wants me to get my own graphics card.
Now I've been looking around and honestly I have no clue. I need it to be able to run these new games coming out because recently I've been looking to buy a few new games to supplement my collection of blizzard games.
If you guys wouldn't mind helping me out with this I was wondering which graphics cards you guys use as well as how they work out for you with new games.
My current graphics card gets somewhat screwy when I play Guild Wars and I would like one that is reliable and powerful enough to run just about every game out there as of now.
Price will not be an issue.

triple sli gtx 295 link $ 1574,97
|
So you're perfectly fine with getting like a $500 video card?
|
i have even a better idea, triple sli gtx 295 with watercooling link
|
wow i didnt know triple sli was even possible rofl

What is your resolution you play at also do you have 2 3 monior set up.
Imo off the top of my head Nvidia Geforce GTX 285 the most powerful single GPU i would recommenced which you can play up to err 1680x1050 or about >=24 inch monitors on full for future poof shove 2 of those babys in sli and you can turn everything on no problem. Although the limiting factor will def be the cpu in sli
On more practical side Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 (216core) ATI Radeon HD 4870 1 Gig
those two cards are great price performance.
In tier form not including 2 gpu on 1 card those always stuff from being driver dependent and small micro stuttering which isn't bad for mmo's or rts you wont notice but noticeable for fps.
Top tier: GTX285(it's a revision of 280 gets on avg 10% more performance) > GTX 280 2nd teir: 4870, 260(216core) 3rd teir: 4850, 9800 GTX+, GTS 250

look for cards with the nvidia 9800 chip if you can't afford to pay 1500$ for a graphics card.

i'm following the "price will not be an issue" mindset

Haha you asked for it.
In case you actually wanted a high-end mainstream and not something insane like GTX 295 or something like that I'd say Ati radeon HD 4830? Or maybe 4850, 4870 depending on how much you want to spend.
|
opps i meant only less then 22 inch monitors which really varies from monitor to monitor some have better ppi then others
sigh that's what i get for replaying to like 4 threads at once you get lost in paying attention
although i could never find how someone could sit near a 24 in monitor without being overwhelmed by it's size relative to your distance to it.
which should be something like 48 inches away is best viewing
edit: to mani

oke assuming you don't want to spend 2100$ + watercooling equipment on gfx cards
here's a nice chart link it's true that 2 * HD 4870 1 GB in crossfire, 2 * gtx 260 in sli or if you don't want any of that dual gpu stuff, a simple gtx 285 will run everything very good on non 30inch lcd's
|
Yeah but if you do sli or crossfire make sure your case has great ventilation sli and crossfire usually cases alot of stagnet air under the cards rasing the heat when under prolonged use
|
if you want some thing budget. ATI 4610 is a solid performer for its price. beats 9600GT on every benchmark.
