EDIT: I don't get how Twitter is superior to blogs... I don't blog, but I can see how you can use blogs in the same way Twitter is used.

IMO it has no significant use. It's just a... blog, really. I could put in a blog, "What I did today" And that would be twitter every day. So I fail to see any point to using it. I've no idea how it became popular. It seems almost arrogant to think other people want to know what you're doing the whole day. No, that is arrogant. | ||

Good thing about it is, you can get updates on many people by only reading your twitter page. Facebook has a similar feature with the status updates, but on facebook you need to be friends with that person and thus need to share your personal information with people. On Twitter you can get updates on your favorite band ("Tour dates are updated, check it out"), check up on old friends ("Back in Chicago, anyone wanna hang out?"), share information of your own ("Party at 10pm, facebook me for details"), etc. And the good thing is, it's just minimalistic and not bloated like other sites. You don't have to check 12389 blogs of random friends or bands or whatever, just to get updates. Usually a one-liner like twitter is enough, and if it's something that interests you, you can still check their blog. Twitter is just like a rss-feed, and you can choose what people/sites/bands/celebs you want to follow. If there's something that catches your eye, you can check it out in detail later. | ||
