Relations between the west and asia would be good as well (Marco Polo, Commodore Perry, Spanish-American war/Phillipinnes, European imperialism, spheres of influence in China, Open Door Policy) And also, West and Latin America (Pan America Conference, Monroe Doctrine, Roosevelt Corollary, Cuba, Panama Canal and conflict with Colombia, Mexican revolution (PANCHO VILLA!!!!!!!!!) Sorry if my input seems limited, mainly from US history class i'm in right now. Oh yea, Cold War stuff is good too  Do you want current stuff or historical stuff? | ||

You get politics, economics and IR/IPE without actually needing a thorough understanding of economics. You can write about the political pressures that each government is facing, their various options, etc. | ||

To do this, you're going to have to do a lot of newspaper reading since it's the best source of information for modern events. Think tanks like Brookings and others will probably have good analyses too. | ||
