Back in the days I used to watch a lot of movies but for some reason I kinda quit doing so. Recently I figured to start watching movies more frequently again and I thought it would be cool to keep track of all of them. So here it is! This is not a list of the best movies I've ever seen but just a list of movies I watched most recently. I guess this could be nice for anyone who wants to watch some movies but doesn't know which movies to watch (next to the already existing moviethreads). I rated all movies and gave them a small comment. The ratings are based on how much I enjoyed watching the movies, don't worry too much about it. Movies that have entertained me well will get extra points rather than the brilliance of a movie. I just want the ratings to be an honest indication of a movie being worth watching or not (from my point of view).

0/5 = So horrible, I didn't even watch it fully till the end (or just skimmed through it).
1/5 = Boring, bad acting, etc.
2/5 = Soso... not that impressed but if it ever shows up at TV you should tune in.
3/5 = Nice movie which you should try to get your hands on. This won't be a waste of your time.
4/5 = Very enjoyable and made me feel like 'wow that was great!'. Get it now!
5/5 = BALLER MOVIE. I might never give out a 5/5 tho, because there's no such thing as a 'perfect movie'.

Listed in chronologic order of me watching them:
28 Days Later (4/5) - One of the best zombie movies I've ever seen. Very enjoyable to watch.
28 Weeks Later (2.5/5) - Sequel on 28 days, but not as good. Should get this if you enjoyed 28 days.
Dawn of the Dead (4/5) - Zombie movie. Storyline isn't too impressive but the movie still was awesome.
Battle Royale (2.5/5) - Great concept with potential. In the end not as great; could be so much better.
Burn After Reading (3/5) - Not your typical Comedy. Funny but nothing too thrilling. Expected more.
The Bank Job (4/5) - Crime/Drama/Adventure in the 70's. Great movie which feels realistic too.
No Country for Old men (3.5/5) - Slow development, great suspense. Not enjoyable for everyone.
3:10 to Yuma (4/5) - Best western I've seen in long while, very well done. Great storyline & acting.
Taken (2.5/5) - Action movie. Too 'American' and unrealistic but contains a lot of sweet action.

This is it for now.. I'm not sure if I should just keep on updating and adding to the list, or if I should actually make new blogposts every once in a while. Or maybe just not post at all if there's no interest into it anyways

edit: added 3:10 to Yuma, Taken

I agree. You have to be able to relativize it though. The movie was obviously made on a low budget... the storyline itself is kinda retarded but the concept is pretty good; it's one of those typical 'great idea but eventually didn't really work out as well' movies. Next to that I also have the feeling that we are probably missing out on some stuff in the movie which are too Asian of nature, which we don't really see or understand. I still enjoyed watching it and didn't think it was a waste of my time at all ^^

Also, if you're looking for realism this movie isn't for you

No Country for Old Men 3.5/5? No way...it's at least a 4.5. Really the culmination of the Coen brothers' moviemaking careers.

I watched it to the end but I wouldn't watch Battle Royale 2 or something like that. Since it was like English subs and stuff like that then I can understand a lot of emotion gets taken out of it.

I have to say that my ratings aren't that accurate when looking at how good a movie really is. 'Zombie movies' getting a 4/5 is kinda ridiculous but I thought the ones I gave 4/5 were really enjoyable to watch. I mainly gave them that rating because compared to all Zombie movies I've seen I thought that these were actually pretty good and exceeded my expectations.

@Yaqoob: I didn't watch BR2 and I'm not planning on doing so as well. I didn't think BR was that great, but I really liked the concept of the movie... After reading a short synopsis on BR2 I decided it probably isn't worth watching.

@JWD: Personally I think No Country is a little overhyped. It's a good movie but I thought Fargo was better. In order for a movie to get 4.5 or 5 from me, it needs to totally blow me away Is this a movie you'd mention in your top10 best movies ever seen list though?

@echo_O: I thought 28 weeks later was too Americanized and too 'unrealistic'. I thought the plot was kinda cheap and the movie just featured more action & gore. While 28 Days focused on how insanity affects mankind in absurd/desperate situations, 28 Weeks just shows a typical army screws up thing. I thought it was more of a typical zombie movie which I'm not such a big fan off, so I rated it lower than 28 days later. What made 28 weeks later a better movie to you?

It has a strong technique, but it lacks oo.

I think the downside for battle royale is having kids actors, otherwise it is a great movie.

i think this is a good idea. but if your giving .5 ratings why not make the scale from 1-10?
also: dawn of the dead, 28 days later and bank job better than no country for old men? never^^

I got to agree with Smorrie on No Country for Old Men.
It was so hyped that when I watched it, it fell flat.
I mean, it's still good but not the 5/5 that many people make it out to be imo.
There's something about the pace and story that didn't draw me in.

This is the first time I've heard anyone rate 28 Weeks Later > 28 Days Later.

I admit, it's probably just out of the Top 10. The main reason that I like it is that I'm a huge fan of the Coen brothers in general, and I feel this movie is the embodiment of their filmmaking style. It draws on elements of their previous work (their excellent debut, Blood Simple, in particular) but is also an excellent film in its own right.

I can understand how you could feel No Country was overhyped if you weren't a huge Coen brothers fan like me, but I still feel 3.5 is pretty harsh.

bank job is great

battle royal is the most random movie EVER... I heard it was an adaptation of Lord of the Flies? BR2 is even more random (read: worse) than BR1, omg... half way through the film, it turns into an anti-USA propaganda lolz

i think 3.5 for Old Men is ok, personally I would have given it an even lower mark, probably 3 or 2.5. To me the movie was plain boring and the story was just... well at times it felt like there was no story. I bought the movie cause I heard great things about it, but didn't like it much at all >.<

I just watched 3:10 to Yuma but find it hard to figure out whether it should be rated the same as No Country or not, due to the total difference between them. Yuma is most definitely the best western I've seen in a long while. Great storyline and great acting. I know No Country in its own way is a brilliant movie but personally after watching it, I didn't feel like it was THAT awesome. Maybe the ending scene killed it for me.

Don't worry too much about my ratings tho, I just want them to be an honest indication of a movie being worth watching or not from my point of view. Maybe I should up the rating for No Country to 4/5 for its brilliance but in that case I'd also have to alter all the other ratings.. For instance Dawn of the Dead is an awesome movie and imo highly enjoyable to watch, but compared to movies that would be in my top 10 of best movies all time it wouldn't even come close.

Also, I planned to just rate movies from 1 to 5 because I figured it'd be too hard to rate movies from 1 to 10, but my plan failed and I started giving .5s lol

I actually saw No Country for Old Men before the hype reached me. In fact, I heard of its existence less than an hour before I watched it. That being said, i agree with Smorrie, it was enjoyable, but I definitely didn't think it was anything earth-shattering.
