He needs to see how hard it is to have any appreciation for boxer. Just play some games with him. He will either like it or not... can't really make it more interesting. The depth and competition of the game is what makes the online play timeless.

If you don't understand the game and the culture, these videos are, well... boring. They have to actually play around with the game a bit, understand it, grow to enjoy it, and appreciate how difficult it is. THEN, when they have interest and respect for the game you show them the very highest levels of play and blow their minds. dumbass

Do some 2v2 comp stomps and just protect him while he explores the game. Don't show him some fast paced pro-game that he won't care about or understand, all he will see is a bunch of foreign video game units moving around the screen and dying.

Come on. You could have just said your experience and showed that video or something.

That's, ironically, kinda dumb to do. First I would make him understand the very basics, like what unit does what, how the costs are, a basic idea about what's good and what isn't (he really doesn't need to know how to 9pool or shit, just that despite BCs are fat and expensive, they don't rape the whole map). Then I would make him sit next to you while you play (always blows my friends' [who know SC a bit on the noobie level] mind away, but then again I'm B- (not a huge feat but it can look flashy )). That should make them feel ready when you tell them "In South Korea, despite how pimp I looked, I would be next to nothing" and prompt him to some highlight videos.

Once he's picked a race that he loves he'll love the game. For instance, thinking about SC in general is like "meh" for me, but ZvZ is an instant hard-on

This PISSES them off a lot t.t edit: if you ever play against him, give him long games. If you ever beat him with cheese he will think he can't even touch you, but if you give him long games, he will feel he could've won the game and try again harder, he'll then see you as his rival and try to learn the game as much as he can till he beats you and feels like the king of SC... Then he plays against a B+ on icc XD

After he gets an idea of what's possible, let him play a few games, otherwise he'll probably get bored if you just tell him to go play it. But go super easy on him. The biggest discouragement for beginners is not having anyone their own level to play against.
