This is for music lovers. not just lovers but fanatics. maniacs. Addicts. obsessed people. i'm constantly on the hunt for the next hot track. Any genre, i just wanna find that gem. So if you're like me, i have a request;
I WANT YOUR PLAYLIST.
i maintain really really well organized playlists in 26 different genres. Almost daily I browse through my roughly 90k songs library and i individually select each song that i really really like and classify it into one of these categories ( or i add one if it doesnt fit anywhere, so yes its an ongoing process). It makes listening extremely enjoyable and efficient.
I like every single genre...but this is where im at so far.
i'll put (###) next to them to show how many songs each list has.
1. Five Stars. These are my all time favorite songs ever. any genre. These are the songs i consider masterpieces and i'm very very demanding before including a prospect in this list. this is the cream of the crop. (393) 2. 80's (439) 3. Ballads and Pop (392) 4. Christmas (9) 5. Classical (73) 6. Country (39) 7. Disco (252) 8. Eurobeat (172) 9. Eurodance (1034) 10.House (116) 11.Italo-Disco (114) 12.Latin (20) 13.Makin' Love (43) 14.Oldies (100) 15.Punk (61) 16.Quebecois (40) 17.R&B (200) 18.Rap (898) 19.Reggae (129) 20.Relaxation (23) 21.Rock (202) 22.Striptease (63) 23.Techno (106) 24.Trance (151) 25.World Music (8) 26.Zouk (317)
So, a huge playlist can be saved into a very small m3u file which can be read by most media or audio players. (40 songs = 3kb....900 songs = 80kb) This file directs your media player into playing each song using the file path info contained in this m3u file. Even if you dont have the songs on your harddrive, you can read a playlist m3u file by choosing open with -> notepad. So, assuming that many people have really great and diverse tastes and assuming that some work has been put into it, a playlist can be really really useful to find new things in this huge musical world and this is precisely what im looking for.
I'm willing to trade those m3u files by email or whatever.
However;
1. im not interested if you did not select each song individually 2. you must have done some work. each song must be there because you really really really like it..meaning dont just put a rap song in your rap playlist just because its rap 3. im not interested in lists compiled by companies or torrent sites or other third-parties. it needs to come from YOU. you compiled your list yourself.
Cheers, i hope to find some of those gems.

My playlist is: play a cool song on repeat for an eternity, get bored of it, search around the internet for a new song, play that over and over, etc.

My playlist is about 50gigs of nothing but metal. Which you don't seem to want

My playlists are albums, I'm not a big fan of just listen to one song of an artist and going to the next. Albums for me are written as a "story" and should be gone through entirely. So pretty much any music I have, I like the whole album. Plus it doesn't seem like I have any music in any of those genres you got, got different taste.

I need your playlists; I have so much classical music but virtually nothing else.
My playlist is somewhat similar to yours except I have two: one classical (all of them, most FLAC) and my favourites. I wanted to do some project like this but it seems you have done a great job already!

50Gb of only metal lol ...hard to believe your brain didnt explode yet. if you have a best of playlist of like 100 or 200 songs i'd really like it... im open to every genre..its just that i havent explored metal much yet..but its really an area i need to go to.

i've got a little over a TB of music in FLAC, 600 gigs of it metal.
never really made playlists though, i tend to start an album at the beginning and work my way through it though out the day.

I do this a lot, and people think I'm weird for doing it. I find a song/musical piece I really like and listen to it for about two to three weeks, or until I get bored of it. But even then I'll come back to it in the future.
That's not to say that I don't have more than a few songs I listen to. But like one of the posters above, I usually like to listen to entire albums instead of individual songs.

I just never bothered to add additional genres to my playlist.
It's all complete albums, no individual songs. I could definitely create an m3u with some of my favorite albums, no problem. I wouldn't expect anything in return

Why? They're so bad and that's being entirely objective.

Jeez, am i the only one in here that uses playlists? do you guys just go through the whole process of searching through folders, opening folders, pinpointing the song, clicking on the song, pressing play?
Also; having people listing a bunch of artists that they like wasnt really the goal of my post. (^_^) anyways, im sure lots of people have great playlists that they'd like to share.

I agree! I used to be very picky and just listen to a song from a whole album (or even artist) but as I'm finding my true musical taste I'm also realizing the value of the album as a whole, as well as the progression of the albums from one artist.
|
My playlists are pretty much all metal. With some classical, jazz, and Rush (YEAH RUSH IS THEIR OWN GENRE) mixed in. I also have some '90s essentials like "Baby got Back".
|
Yeah, like others have said, most of it's thrash metal. When I use a playlist it's because I'm busy doing something else and can't be bothered to access my media player for a long period of time. Generally this means I'm gaming. Especially with things like Unreal, I don't want a tranquil mood. I want ear splitting, adrenaline blasting, blood pumping metal. Okay, so I'm exaggerating a bit, but most of the time when I'm being all tranquil I go through picking song by song or album by album. But when it's time to pwn up, it's time to put on some Megadeth, Slayer, Iron Maiden, etc.

cant believe metal is so popular.. if i were a sociologist i would draw a parallel between strategy games and metal.
