So today I finally got my Student loan approved for yet another semester of College, nothing new and nothing out of the ordinary. So I drive to campus and when I get to admissions I stand in line while standing in line I notice a lot longer line that leads to the advisers offices etc. I simply didn't think anything of it. Well when I got to the desk to, my knowledge, pay for my classes that I had registered for online. WRONG.
The school had a glitch in their system(s), and deleted every single one of the classes for everyone who had registered online, including mine. Not only did everyone learn about it today, the day payment is suppose to be made but all the classes that I fucking signed up for are now motherfucking full. Closed.
The Line that I mentioned had over 2,000 people in it. So far there is nothing they can do about it except refund the people that managed to pay for their classes. I am so god damn pissed even after learning 12 hours ago. I have manged to grab 2 classes and am still looking for two more to qualify as a full time student, otherwise the bank won't help pay for my classes. So fucking pissed.
This is one of the few classes still open:
THEA 1510 - Basic Acting This course contains instruction in basic body and voice control techniques and exploration of actor's resources and class exercises to develop relaxation, concentration, imagination, and improvisation skills.
God damn if I take this it will make Speech class seem like a fucking breeze.

One of the many misfortunes life brings our way. Hope things work out for you.
P.S. Acting sounds fun! You should totally take it.

Perhaps you should read my blogs about taking speech class, it sucked. I couldn't even make a speech without sounding nervous, what the hell would I do in a Theater class besides have a panic attack.

God damn, even art appreciation is full. Even for Industrial tech requires a 4 and a half hour class at night which is when I work.

I liked my Drama class in High school. Was the only time I could sleep, act like an idiot... AND GET CREDIT FOR IT!
It was fun playing all the games and doing some plays though.

That's shitty. Signing up for college classes is almost always the lamest experience ever. Something -always- seems to go wrong. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that stuff anymore.

Is deferring for a semester an option?
|
That's one of the lamest things about college. They never offer enough classes so there's always a lot of waitlists which is retarded. Especially when there's a system error like that you get screwed. What they should've done is done a repriority for the classes so people could hopefully sign up for what they had again before other people come in and take stuff.
I'm with Bockit though. If you're taking junk classes is there any way to defer to another semester?
|
The fact that THEY are responsible for the mistake, they should be bending over backwards to help everyone who got screwed over. I mean had it been like 1-20 people, shit happens, but like over 2000 ? That shows that they had a hugeee messup and shoudl be trying to get those people into classes. If you can't get the ones you want, Defer for a semester like suggested, and just work for a semester.

Contact the campus student advocates. They may have enough power to get you into additional classes or at least some form of exceptions with upper admin.

Yea that seems like it would throw a curveball into your day and semester. Good luck on choosing your next classes..Be wise and don't choose something that your not sure on.

I remember the days when course registration in our university wasn't done online but somewhere in front of the lecture hall. It was such a clusterfuck and there were no real distinguishable lines for registration. People were coming out of the blob with bleeding noses and stuff. The dark days before the internet :O I know how you must have felt. And acting lessons might, just like the speech class, help you in terms of presentations etc. Try and see the bright side...
|
That's ridiculous. Someone mentioned contacting administration. I think you should give it a shot
EDIT: I also have to take Speech eventually. I'm going to pretty anxious about it as well.
