also, a lot of 4chan's /a/ (anime) and /jp/ (supposed to be 'Japan', but it's really just 'everything that doesn't belong in /a/', ie. visual novels, body pillows, idols) userbase have nicovideo accounts. I've recently wondered how youtube/googlevideo/nicovideo even make money

well tbh there's 10000x more japanese leech accounts so the western effect is minimal... for now. But I think it does have potential to skyrocket in use, hopefully the operators can recognize this and adapt their ad strategy internationally b/c imo they blow at it atm.

They should just plaster ads all over the place and hope things somehow work out. Otherwise things will go just as the Great Satan Google has planned.
Anyway, I think I heard somewhere that nicovideo has a userbase similar to youtube (total meatheads and retards) and 2ch absolutely hates them. Is this true?

IIDX is ridiculous, I just sold my Pop'N controller and game on ebay for $80, but kept my IIDX and mixes 6-13. Game is so good. Can't wait til somebody leaks this one, $70 at Playasia.com is insane.
