so today in physiology we were continuing our dissection of some cats we got like a week ago. we store them in these 2 plastic bags, one inside the other, one for each cat, and put them in our morgue. anyways, so the cats are kind of... "juicy." it's the fluids from the cat and the formaldehyde they use to preserve it... anyways. so the bottom of the inner bag is filled with the cat "juices." the cats are fairly heavy, seeing as how they are drenched with these fluids. so a group went to put theirs back in their bag. the held the bag over the edge of the table and slid the cat in, feet first. unfortunately for them they let the cat go a little bit too early, it was about halfway in the bag. the cat slides down the bottom of the bag, rips through, and falls on the floor, along with it's "juices." how fun for their group to clean up.

Lol, I remember doing this in my biology class last year, those preservatives smelled so bad :/. Also I got kicked out for cutting off the cat's tail......

Also you preserve them so that their bodies don't decompose before your cut them open.

we dissected piglets in my class.
Dissection was actually one of the most amazing things I've ever done at school. I thought it would be kinda stupid and gross but I'm really glad I did it. Did you guys remove the brains? That's the best part

I HATED dissection in high school (crawfish, worms, etc)... but in College once we started doing mammals it became extremely fun. My phys class next quarter has a cadaver lab

We did fruit flies too, somehow they escaped their containers and formed a swarm in our classroom. We had a day of finding and killing fruit flies during the last week of school and extra credit for the person who got the most.

i know exactly how juicy each of those cats are. back in HS i was incharge of preparing them and putting them in freezers. a couple of packages came with leaks and it got on my hands. instead of washing my hands, I WENT DIRECTLY TO GO EAT CHICKEN TENDER AND FRIES.
