btw, I've had one of these before. Never again. I was about 13-14 and I was in my room just laying in bed in the dark with a crack of light coming in from the door being slightly open.
I wasn't really tired and it wasn't really bed time but I just layed down to relax for a minute. My sister and her friends were in the other room talking and I could hear the tv in the other room. Nothing intelligble but it was background noise.
I guess I eventually dosed off just barely, and all of the sudden this poster on my wall had the tape come loose and it flung down and started swinging back and forth. It instantly woke me up, but I COULD NOT move. I was completely tripping out, I thought I had a evil ghost or some aliens fucking with me. I didn't see anything and couldn't move so I closed my eyes hard and tried to will myself awake. after about 2-3 minutes the adrenaline dropped down and I started to yelp and my sister came in and was all concerned.
I think there is a specific brainwave pattern and timing for this kind of thing to occur. Its really fucking scary, probably the scariest thing ever to happen to me.

I didn't know this was so common. I've never met anyone who's experienced it before. Thanks for the heads up. If this happens to me I'm going to try and enjoy it.

I remember after I watched the ring for the first time, I couldn't sleep for like 2 weeks after because I kept imaginging the dark-haired little girl creeping up to my bed and just standing there. At least twice I woke up and couldn't move for a couple seconds because I was so scared, and then another time I sat up really fast and ejected myself off the bed and straight into my closet.

Yeah I hate when this happens, sometimes you just wanna quit and lie there but it sucks so you keep trying. I wanna get out really bad of the paralysis but after I do, I go back into it and I'm like ohh shoot and it takes me like 5 times after getting it (on the same night) to move around and try something else.

oh and also if you experience sleep paralysis, a good way to get out of it is to concentrate on a single part of your body, like your thumb for example. try your hardest to move that single body part and you'll recover sooner than if you try and stand up or something.

I got it like 3-4 times but for me it sortof goes away fast. My sister got it than woke up fell asleep and than got it again... Some of the stories my friends told about when they got 가위눌으는거 is really creepy as hell. Like hes in school taking a nap on the desk with his face on his arms and than he feels something grab his feet and he cant move. And in the glimpse of his eyes he sees something come up from the desks and than his friend wakes him up. Shivers im scared now;;

When im scared at night i just put the covers all over my head. But after seeing grudge i imagine something in my blankets moving. ::Faints::

I've had horrific experiences, I wrote a blog about it too. Sometimes it involves dead babies trying to kill me, or burning hellhounds with red eyes, and demon spirits, or swirling colors, loud noises, and vibrating feelings. Of course I can never move or wake up.
Lately however, I've been able to wake up faster, and sometimes the experiences are even cool, rather than horrifying. But it definitely can be terrible, I just had to convince myself that I will eventually wake up, and that nothing that happens in these paralysis bouts can hurt me. If you keep that in mind, and even think about it when it actually happens to you, it can lessen the disturbance.

I've experienced a number of these over the years also. Mine were similar to Dev's in that it often felt as though there was someone in my house, and I would try with all my will to get up and couldn't. The first few times it happened I basically felt this overbearing sense of dread and helplessness. However the more recent episodes haven't been concerning at all; I seem to recall the previous experiences at that point and know that my body just needs time to awaken.
I wouldn't exactly recommend the experience to anybody because, at least the first few times, it can be down-right fucking scary, and even subsequent episodes aren't exactly 'pleasant'.
Out of curiousity, to those who've posted as having experienced these episodes, did you experience similar or other related sleeping issues as children? My mum has told me that as a youngster I experienced a number of night terrors that freaked the shit out of her. I wonder if I had some sort of sleep issues as a kid?

The same thing has happened to me once Brett, it was messed up. I was laying in bed and I must have passed out, but I heard some one open my door and slowly walk towards me, then grab me. I couldn't move at all during it, then I just like jumped out of bed. It scared the shit out of me. This was only about 2 years ago. I figured it was my girlfriend coming to bed.
