Oh, I also have tiny insignificant things that can be easily ignored but instead piss me off.

People who still use Fahrenheit.
No I'm never serious.

People who say "I could care less"

What the hell is up with people who say "I could care less"? Are they inviting me to make them care less? Did they even hear the words that just came out of their own mouth? How does it not occur to them immediately that what they just said is completely retarded? I hear grown adults say this shit all the time, how do you go 40 years without realising "wait this doesn't make any sense at all"?

What pisses me off even more is when someone has the audacity to correct me from "I could not care less" to the incorrect version. hrrrnnngggg wake up you toolbags
[image loading]

I figure I shouldn't necro this without a good reason, so without further ado here is the extensive list of "Things that piss H_ off, in no particular order Vol. 1"

1. The aforementioned verbal error.

2. Genuine racism. Emphasis on genuine, mileage may vary.

3. "Gamer girls" or just any girl in general that HAS TO DRAW ATTENTION TO THE FACT THEY HAVE BREASTS LOOK AT ME HOLY SHIT I'M A FEMALE ON THE INTERNET. Note that this does not apply to anyone who is obviously not a douchebag before the mention of gender comes up.

4. Whiteknighting faggots protecting the above. No she will not think any higher of some basement-dwelling internet nerd acting as her verbal sword and shield when she is attacked for being a vapid attention whore and you will not be rewarded with smoking hot sex.

5. backho

6. Gary motherfucking Oak.

You battle through a cave which is invariably full of fucking Zubats, Geodudes, and Paras or their respective evolutions, you're down to your last one or two pokemon and one of them is probably poisoned or asleep, you're out of potions, you have no escape rope and even if you did you've come too far to turn back and you're SO CLOSE to the exit, you see the ex- oh god. Was that Gary's theme? IT IS GARY'S THEME AND I DIDN'T SAVE, FUCK.

7. Kids. I already dislike most kids because by nature they are generally inquisitive, curious, and by extension very annoying. Also often loud. I had to take care of a 7 year old girl for the better part of 2 weeks. Never again. I'm sure a lot of people think their behaviour is endearing or cute but I just hate them.

8. Young teenagers. This is really just expanding on my previous point, because most young teenagers are also very annoying and loud. Especially in groups, and especially on buses. I don't care what happened at Sally's party or how wasted you were. I'm trying to listen to my music from the other end of the bus and you can't shut the fuck up about how cool taking drugs and drinking is.

9. People who tell smokers "You know, that's really bad for you." NO SHIT? Do you think they didn't take that into consideration? Do you really think you just opened the fucking door to enlightenment or something? That the smoker is going to be like "jesus christ I never knew" and stub out their cigarette and throw their pack in the bin? REALLY? I hate smoking and this still pisses me off. Goddamn.

10. People who are elitist douchebags in their hobby of choice. The first thing that comes to mind is musical taste. I really don't mind if someone has different taste in music to me. I can accept that a lot of people do not like eurobeat, trance, hardstyle, rap and the other various genres I listen to. My taste in music is very broad so it is very easy to find a band or artist that you will inevitably dislike in my playlist. I also don't mind if you have to tell me that my music sucks, as long as that's the last that I hear of it. When I have some pseudointellectual indie hipster talking to me about why I should appreciate the sounds of ambient white noise and how they used to listen to Bjork but she has major albums now and that she's sold out to The Man HOLY SHIT I DON'T CARE. Let me listen to my fucking repetitive beats.

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's a lot more that I have forgotten. Another thing that's going to piss me off in the really near future is the inevitable "you realise this thread is like 9 months old right?" comment, and now that I've said that there is like a 90% chance of someone replying with that exact quotation thinking they are clever, but now that I've said that I'd say the chance was reduced to 50% or so because nobody wants to be called out for being a smartass. Yeah I got your fucking number on that one didn't I. Anyway, that's my essay of impotent internet rage. H_ out.

No... The cold is a virus, in fact, temperature has nothing to do with it at all. What your mom told you since you were 2 is a lie.

It's basic biology, tbh.

I think he is saying that when you are cold, your immune system is weaker than it would be at normal temperatures. Thus, you are more susceptible to viral/bacterial infections in the cold because your immune system will not protect you as well.

Well my mum always said cold -> weakened immune system -> increased likelihood of catching a virus. And when they say "wear a coat or you'll catch a cold." They don't literally mean the cold weather causes colds, it's just a lot easier to say than "wear a coat to prevent the weakening of your immune system so that you're less likely to catch a cold."
No I'm never serious.

I agree with a lot of what you said (except for the points like Gary Oak, of which I know nothing about ), but I found this point in particular very humorous. Not because I disagree with it in any way, in fact I strongly strongly agree, but because that's exactly what quite a few people on this very forum do with StarCraft compared to other games as opposed to music. And, unsurprisingly, very few people here seem to have a problem with it, despite the fact that if the subject were changed to something such as music, they would most likely suddenly have a problem. Interesting phenomenon

As you implied, this point can be extended to many other facets of life and simply boils down to one trying to promote their opinion as a fact. It is VERY annoying when someone thinks that just because they feel a certain way about something, other people should too and if they don't, then they're somehow wrong or lesser of a person because of it. That kind of mentality is very frustrating.

Anyway, I'm simply quoting you because I think that it was an excellent point, and I feel that it can most definitely be extended to other aspects of life, some that quite a few people here are very familiar with and are guilty of quite often. I think that's something that's worth pointing out.
We cant give up just because things arent the way we want them to be.

Basically you read some article, or some guy told you "HEY, THE COLD CAUSING COLDS IS ACTUALLY A MYTH LOL," and you, being incapable of critical thought, decided to go around telling everyone how stupid they were for thinking people can get colds from being cold.

The fact is, there are tonnes of airborne viruses, dust mites in our pillows and other harmful things that our body is fighting 24/7. When you lower the body's ability to fight off these things, you increase the chance to get ill, such as when the body is subjected to extreme cold. Yes, if you were in a completely sterile environment, the temperature would not make a difference to your susceptibility to getting sick, but it isn't, so you're an idiot for going around telling everyone "LOL, COLD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PEOPLE GETTING SICK." Stop misinterpreting studies. You can do this by either not talking about them, or by learning to think for a change.

PS: On topic: People who misinterpret scientific studies is one of my major pet peeves

reply to op:

younger people can handle low temperatures better than older people. not mentally, physically.

someone else probably said this but low temperatures compromise the body's immune system

and why would staying indoors more increase probability of contagion? going out where other people are increases the probability of contagion.

I, being a teenager, would like to say that your generalization of all teenagers as t-shirt/skirt wearing assholes who stand in the middle of the road talking on their cellphones is a bit brash. In fact, I only wear my skirt on Saturdays and my mommy says cellphones rot brains.

There are many, many other pathogens than the common cold that are floating around. You don't succumb to those when you're cold. Oh, maybe the immune system just becomes weaker against the influenza virus when the body temperature falls.

Look, science says it's true. I don't care what your common sense or ingrained truisms say. Don't argue with science. You piss me off.

(And no, I don't have a blind faith in science. The moment science shows itself to be unreliable I'm throwing it out.)

I'll point out also that when you're inside (a building, that is), you're probably in much closer physical proximity to other people. And have actual physical contact much more often.
