What happened before problem arose:
- Previous night downloaded a World of Warcraft torrent on my laptop with good comments, and many claims that it was virus free and clean: Catch was it was difficult to set up.
- I set up the original WoW on my laptop to see if it'd work, and the setup was fine. No problems arose.
- The next day (TODAY) I put my WoW folder on my public folder so I could grab it from the network with my Desktop computer. This took around an hour long since for some reason XP Network Places was not showing any connections for the longest time. Anyways, I finally somehow got it to show and I took the folder and moved it to my Desktop computer's desktop. This took around 15 minutes.

- I downloaded WoW & Burning Crusade, only to later uninstall it as my friend gave me a 10 day free trial.

- I tried playing Melty Blood (an arcade fighter) with my friend on my laptop which usually goes fast at like 300ms ping max. This time it started with around 700ms and ended the game with around 2000ms, to the point the game was unplayable. At first I just thought my laptop was being a faggot and shrugged it off.
- I notice my download from Blizzard website is fluctuating like crazy on my desktop computer. It will say "8 hours remain" then 2 minutes later it will say "16 hours remain".
- I read how to speed up my dl speed with the Blizzard Downloader by tinkering with my firewall. I read the Blizzard website and it works fine, I add a connection and follow the rules. Internet connection was good and the Blizzard website loaded as fast as usual.
- The speed of the Blizzard updater still said that there was a firewall restriction, but was still downloading (at a slow pace). I didn't give a shit because it'd still get done before school tomorrow.
- I open firefox and notice its slower than a snail, where pages are taking around 40 seconds - 1:30 minutes to load. I'm fucking pissed.

Since I'm experiencing the problem with both my computers that dealt with the WoW folder it would lead me to believe the folder was malicious but it makes no sense to me that my laptop had no ill effects until a bit after I made the transfer over my network. I am no way experienced with networking or routers. This is gay. FUCK.

(I am running Norton on desktop and about to run adaware on this computer [laptop])

As of now I'm still experiencing this problem.

Why would you download the wow program? It does nothing you need an account.

If you needed the game you can actually download the full game off of their website.

Let me emphasize how laggy my laptop is.
By the time I refreshed my blog it already has two responses lols.

il0seonpurpose: No, I honestly don't. I've had many many times my desktop computer went to hell and back. I don't even own the recovery disk but I managed to keep it alive for three years, to the point where I was dumb enough to completely rape the shit out of it. I've downloaded shitty programs that contaminated it with aids, etc. Usually I'd pull all nighters and somehow come with a solution.

As of now if no one knows any specific idea or suggestion of what steps I can take I may just do a system restore to an earlier date, and if that works fine then I'd assume it is the WoW.

I really regret downloading it and I'm glad that in the end I'm getting a legitimate version.
My free 10 day trial started (I believe its from the time you start install? Correct me if I am wrong.) then I gotta fork over $20 for full version - so this needs to be fixed pretty much as soon as possible.

Don't quote me on this but I don't think my computer's speed has decreased on my desktop or my laptop, but rather just the internet. Afk taking 5 minutes for this to post.

I would check by first booting your computer in safe mode with networking and pining again with your firewall off. If it works fine there then either its your firewall or you have a vicious virus. Not that someone would be able to use up all your bandwidth at once. Is it possiable that you updated some drivers recently? If there is something wrong with your network card that might be the case.

EDIT

Also walk over to your router when these things are happening and see if the collision light is going off.

Maybe you fed up something plaing let's network! Unless you network things from pc to lappy all the time. Then C.P.R. your laptop and router and then ionno.
C.P.R.= CPU Parameter Recall, which resets the chipset(assuming you don't mess with things like that doesn't matter to you but it clears lingering things. Power down, remove power cord from the PSU for 2 minutes and then power up. Maybe do a C drive search for files made during the time you installed wow. See if you can pick out the evil ones

I think you may have messed with your network/firewall settings wrongly. But then again it could be a background program hogging your internet bandwidth. Noone reaches google that slow. Could still be your ISP's fault though.

1. Hewlett Packard
Presario C700 Notebook PC Vista

2. On my laptop:
CPU Usage: 70-80%
Physical Memory: 85%
(The CPU Usage looks normal, physical memory doesn't).

My desktop computer:
CPU Usage: 2%
Commit Charge?: 444 / 2200
(Normal)

3. As I am screwing around I'm noticing a really weird delay. It'll take like 5 seconds to open a folder. But it doesn't matter how big the folder is. It could be like 1mb, or 1000mb. What happens on both computers is I open the folder, it is white, then like 5 seconds later the icons appear.

By the way Adaware, Norton, and AVG have showed nothing but shit cookies.

Before I reset my router my Blizzard update said 8 hours and after I did it said 86 minutes.
I'm sure it went back to 8 hours as my google just took a bit to load on my laptop (where I am writing this).

Never seen this error. Then again, I don't use vista.

Post a HijackThis log on one of the specialized forums made for that.

It might also be a memory leak, judging from how your memory usage is higher than it should be.

back up your most important files on a disk and re install your os. i'm almost certain things will get worse down the road to the point that you won't even be able to get to your desktop.

Not to make you feel dumber, but I'm 80% sure Blizzard lets you download it from their site if you've got an account. I also assume you're running into problems with Blizzard updater off, because I think its a BT.
