There will be an election in my country (New Zealand) this November and the leaders of the two main parties are having their final live televised debate on Wednesday.
Viewers have the opportunity to ask 30 second YouTube styled questions for them to answer, and I've been thinking about submitting one about our suicide rate, which apparently is second highest (after America) in the developed world, and if they think it's simply because our mental health system isn't up to scratch or whether there's something inherently wrong with our culture or society (I'm having trouble framing it as well so any suggestions would be appreciated).
If given the choice to ask just one question about an issue that was important to you that you want the whole country to see, what would it be?

I dunno but I'd like to ask you what makes you think that New Zealand counts as a part of the developed world?

College prices have spiraled out of control, often putting a quality education out of reach for those in the lower class. What, in your opinion, is the cause of this? Would you do anything to change this?

I really don't have an answer to that, but I would say that asking a question about suicide will likely not get you airtime unless the suicide rate really is so bad that it's a well-known and publicly serious issue.

how come, if main st is being hurt the most, you are spending hundreds of billions to save wall st? they were making 7-8 figure salaries right before/as this happened, and now the public has to pay for them to stay open. how do you account for this disparity, where capitalism is for profits and socialism is for losses!
what are the lessons of iraq? how can we apply that to the escalating situation in afghanistan and to future conflicts in the world?
im about to graduate from college with no money, assets, or job. since the beginning of this year, the economy has lost over a million jobs and unemployment will reach 8% soon. why is your economic plan better than your opponents? also, what are the negative effects of your economic plan?

You are from new zealand and i dont know you? What is wrong with the world!!
NZ politics is pretty mundane, i mean theres not exactly that many topical issues. Only thing i can think about would be the rates crisis in auckland - which they dont exactly have the power over. I guess gangs are pretty topical..
