So lets see: I'm looking to get headphones, an mp3 player, and a small/medium LCD TV. I also have a car dilemma.
First off car dilemma: Drive a ford edge (nice car, but not my cup of tea) until ford puts the 2010 mustang on lease for ford employees then get that (so basically a year of edge then year or two of mustang) or...get a pretty loaded ford fusion(sports package(spoiler, rims, etc), v6, upgraded sound, etc) for the next two years. if i get the fusion my dad also gets to get the MKS which he wants, whereas if i get the edge/mustang he gets the MKZ which he likes but not as much as the MKS.
Next...TV. It's going to be for dorm room/bedroom when i'm at home, apartment or dorm or w/e i live next year etc. I'm looking around 26-32 inches and don't want to spend more than 500. Resolution doesnt have to be higher than 720p, will mostly be using for probably cable tv, my ps3, and connecting to my laptop. So should i go for a really nice 26$ one?or get a 32 inch like this one: click Any advice/recommendations welcome.
Next...Headphones. I've been through a few pairs of v-moda vibes and they sound great but they keep dying (3 pairs already) I'm looking at the sennheiser CX500s for 60$ shipped seem pretty good. Budget around <100
Last...MP3player. I've had my trusty zen vision m for 3 years but its time to move on~! Looking for a flash player with probably 16gb for music and a few movies, good sound quality, good screen, and not ipod. So far my top choice is a cowon iaudio d2, still looking around though. Budget around <200
That's all Let me know any thoughts/recommendations on any of these

If i were you I woyuld go with the fusion as the economy is not looking to hot right now and teh gas will probably be easier with it. Not to mention you can please your pops which never hurts. As for teh TV I wouldnt know since I am prone to just use my laptop for all viewing materials (has a pretty decent 17" screen). For headphones I would recommend looking into some Skull Candys, they are fairly inexpensive (anywhere from <30 for the buds or a >100 for their really ncie ones) and even teh bottom of the line phones sound great. I know you said not an iPod for your mp3 player but I couldnt honestly recommend anything else, in all truth the iPod is the best Mp3 player I have ever had. I would recommend getting a 3rd generation 30-60 gig from ebay or a used electronics website.
|
Headphones:
Currently I use them, they're a very nice pair of headphones (although I admit I dislike the volume control since I never use it and all it does is keep hitting me when I'm walking). Nice sound quality but it's a little pricey, I got mine used "like new" for 40 bucks but you can find it for around 80 for a new pair, even though the MSRP is 100+.
For TV, really not sure. I would prefer getting one from Sharp or Philips, although with your price range the screen size decreases to around 20" which is pretty small.
editted out iPod as MP3 player because you have some sort of weird disease that makes you hate them ;_;

Ew, Skull Candy T_T
Try Skull Candies, then try any model of Sennheisers and you will see a big difference. My friend made the weird choice of buying like 10 pairs of the same Skull Candies and when I gave him one of my trash pairs of headphones (I got a better one and since I wasn't using the old one I gave it to him), he threw the Skull Candies out.
Sp1ral I really recommend trying out Sennheiser, Shure or any of the crazy audiophile companies and you will never go back to Skull Candies D:

Car: can you give the background on why you have narrowed yourself down to those choices? I assume it's because you family member works for Ford? The difference between a loaded fusion and a v6 mustang probably isn't that big tbh...
How much more do you want the mustang? If you don't really care, then don't get it.
Go for comfort/economy now and fun next time!

opt for the v8 GT at least

Vizio lcd tvs fall into ur budget

Car is based on lease/incremental plans available for ford employees. I think the mustang was around 300/month and the fusion is 250/month. the MKS is about 50$ more a month than the MKZ too. But yea they took off the mustang so i got JEWED Lol at spiral recommending skull candies then saying ipod is best mp3 player. I think my dad was looking into those altec lansings, i'll read up on em some. And the reason i dont get ipods is because they're underfeatured and overpriced ~~

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the iPods are underpriced that means that's a good thing because you're getting quality for much less :D
Those Altec Lansings are pretty sweet but you gotta replace those tips or you'll hear the music at a 1/4 of the volume, really irritated me before I switched them out for different ones.

Yea. also looks like altec lansing is coming out with new headphones, they have some specs/prices on their site but nowhere to buy them. And i meant overpriced obviously ~~

Steer clear of the bose headphones. You can pick up the sennheiser cx300 for about 30-40 on e-bay and the cx500 for 60$ (marked down from 120). Both seem to have very good reivews, and i'm leaning towards the latter.

Anyone with a set of balls will question your manhood if you rock a V6 Stang. Unacceptable. Get the other car, since you won't be trying to masqaurade as a muscle car.
As for the TV, assuming you can wait, get in on one of those sales that all the stores have after Turkey Day. You can get something awesome for dirt cheap. Any holiday will probably have sales, but that's gonna be the big one coming up. I just bought a 42' LG 1080 for $999. (it is usually around $13-1400) cuz of the Labor Day sale. Check it out, cuz a lot of places have no interest for three years plan. I'm paying $36 a month for that bad boy. And get 1080, cuz it's worth it, esp if you like sports. Everything gonna broadcast in full hd in the next few years anyway.

I don't care for this line of thought. The V6 Mustang is no muscle car, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't drive it. An attractive car that's ~210hp and fun to drive is fine in my book regardless of how many auto enthusiasts want to be douches about it (especially if you can get it for under 20k or close to it)

Yea i should probably just wait a month and save 100$ ~.~ I don't need a 1080p at 3 feet away on a TV that size anyways.
And i don't really have the choice in the mustang because my dads paying for it...the one i'd love to get (v8 GT/California Special w/ interior package, etc) was a solid 200$/month more than the base model...

Eh, I ain't a hardcore car buff, but I just think that car is meant to have at least a v8. It's almost as bad of a sin as getting a sports car in auto . Id go with either of the two options he had besides that.
And definitely, wait on the tv. YOu'd probably be even better served waiting til the post xmas sale. ANd trust me, see if you can scoop it up on a interest-free deal (or get an interest free cc for a year)

I already have the money for the TV...not too much incentive to pay it off in months
And for mp3 players I'm kind of leaning towards the Samsung P2

Bose are bad. They're way overrated, and can't even compare to real audiophile headphones. ESPECIALLY the QC models.

On the tv issue I recommend like what Hawk said, just wait on black friday to purchase yourself a good deal on a TV. I bought a 50 inch Sharp Aquos 1080p for $999 but this was a wholesale electronics store...which have sales even if its not a holiday. Anyways back to the point about the tv. Just pick up your newspaper or even look online during turkey day and then narrow down which you might want. Im sure a 32 inch LCD might be priced for $349-399 or maybe even cheaper on that black friday. You might even opt to choose between some better brands (samsung, sharp,LG) then a westinghouse/vizio. I've seen those tv's being displayed when I bought my Sharp and they seemed a bit flakey but that coulda just been the hardware surrounding the LCD that made it seem that way I suppose.
The car issue just go with the fuzion for economy/comfort. Even thou a decked out v8 mustang would be awesome especially the new ones with the panoramic roof is just totally off the hook I know I wouldnt be able to afford the gas that v8 will gurgle. Or whatever suits you best.
Oh before I wrap this up. Two years ago on a black friday sale I purchased a 20 inch Samsung LCD 2ms paying $136 out the door. That was two years ago and still to this date a 20 inch ranges from $179+ especially the samsungs. Other then that I probably seen a 19 inch go for $149 on some holiday sale a while back. Just make sure you arrive early or maybe even order offline if its available for the TV if you do decide to wait until black friday.
Oh and headphones and mp3 player I really dont have much input on these. I tend to be rough with my headphones so I usually just buy some $15-20 dollar sony/philips phones and I've been thru 2 ipods and 2 creative mp3 players. Done with ipods since they are underfeatured and cost more then what you can get out of other mp3 players.

You can actually get them for around the same price on Amazon, but the quality is definitely lower than the V-modas. V-moda happily replaced mine when they died but if that's a serious issue, I'd recommend Shures for reliability. The Ultimate Ears buds I bought were probably the worst I've gotten. Quality was fun, but I hated the design and they broke within like two months.
iPods fucking suck. Sound quality, price, features, everything. Zune 80GB runs about $200 on Amazon and actually come with good, in-canal earbuds. Other than that I'd recommend a Creative or iRiver, but seriously the Zune is amazing.

What's notoriously true about the v6?

Ew, Skull Candy T_T Try Skull Candies, then try any model of Sennheisers and you will see a big difference. My friend made the weird choice of buying like 10 pairs of the same Skull Candies and when I gave him one of my trash pairs of headphones (I got a better one and since I wasn't using the old one I gave it to him), he threw the Skull Candies out. Sp1ral I really recommend trying out Sennheiser, Shure or any of the crazy audiophile companies and you will never go back to Skull Candies D: Well I have always wanted to pick up a pair of the Bose QC edition but man they are expensive and I am so rough with my headphones that I would hardly even use them. How much are Sennheisers? If they are inexpensive then I might just go for those, but I always try and find a good median between quality and price. Skull Candy falls into that pretty well. Steer clear of the bose headphones. You can pick up the sennheiser cx300 for about 30-40 on e-bay and the cx500 for 60$ (marked down from 120). Both seem to have very good reivews, and i'm leaning towards the latter. On October 21 2008 03:13 IzzyCraft wrote:On October 21 2008 00:06 decafchicken wrote:Next...Headphones. I've been through a few pairs of v-moda vibes and they sound great but they keep dying (3 pairs already) I'm looking at the sennheiser CX500s for 60$ shipped seem pretty good. Budget around <100 Last...MP3player. I've had my trusty zen vision m for 3 years but its time to move on~! Looking for a flash player with probably 16gb for music and a few movies, good sound quality, good screen, and not ipod. So far my top choice is a cowon iaudio d2, still looking around though. Budget around <200 That's all Let me know any thoughts/recommendations on any of these Just buy a 16gig Creative zen X-FI its sound quality is the best decent screen etc. Also the headphones that come with it are just dam nice. It porb cost you about 220 250 after shipping. Meh i've heard the creative zen x-fi is rather mediocre esp for its price, and i dont need to pay for the headphones that it comes with ~~ Just so you know, there's a TON of counterfeit CX300s/500s on eBay.
Yea i heard there were a lot of counterfeits but amazon is a licensed retailer and have them pretty cheap so i'd probably get them from there. Sucks to hear they're worse than the vibes though, i've already had 3 vibes die on me (only one side of the headphones working)

Well, I can't speak for the 500s but I've got a pair of 300s for the gym. They're cheap plastic ear buds, you can't really expect that much.
My Vibes died after I abused them in the gym (hence the CX300s) but they replaced them pretty quickly.
BTW, these are the things you get with the Zune 80 (not the 120 though.)

I don't like them as much as the Vibes and they're kind of annoying for the gym, but for regular listening they're definitely pretty good. Just remember to burn them in. I'm pretty sure 90% of the complaints for every type of earbud is because they weren't burned in first.

Get the Shure headphones over the Sennheiser, I've had my CX500's for about six months now and the right earphone seems to have blew up

Few people really enjoy wasting their hard-earned money, but many of us do it every day by buying new. We could do our pocketbooks, and the environment, a big favor by opting to be the second owner of some of the stuff we buy. Obviously, some things are best purchased new; lingerie pops to mind (see my companion piece, "10 things you should never buy used" for more). But lots of other stuff depreciates quickly while still having plenty of useable life left. Here are 10 items where the cost vs. use equation strongly tilts toward buying used. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ terrina Used Cars
