First of all I want to mention that I do not dislike or hate Koreans in any way. Actually I pretty much love playing against Koreans and I even try to speak as much Korean as I can, but its just really a few little things.
You know lots of people hate Koreans, because they are insanely good and just keep on totally owning up. Ok but recently I noticed that whenever I beat a Korean or lets say the Koreans I play they are really bad mannered. They basically insult me because I'm a foreigner and insulting me on Korean also. Is that because they are just hating the foreign people, because of their bad behavior or is it the fact that I just met the wrong Koreans?
On the second hand lots of them also leave without saying gg and I ask myself if thats because they have no respect because I'm a foreigner and still playing good, or if its just the wrong Koreans again.
Really pisses me off. I always loved Koreans and still love them, but come on T.T!
Note: Foreigners are far worse than that.

Yeah I've had line after line of what I assume is bad mannered korean thrown at me many times. I just give them a "^^" and a "gg" and that usually seems to get them out lol.

Note: Foreigners are far worse than that. i think it's a case of just bad luck and meeting the wrong koreans. when i used to iccup a lot i found my experience against koreans was the most enjoyable, both because they're so good and because they're a lot more familiar with pro sc, and thus i think more inclined to gg. foreigners a lot of the time can have a weird opinion on gg'ing whereas in korea it's pretty standard behavior, and i know there's been a million threads on whether to gg or not is acceptable, but really it can be hard not to misinterpret it as bm.

that happens when a person think he lost to someone he isnt suppose to lose

I heard that you can be bm when you loss a game too. ( after a guy in TIQ clan ). Irony... I guess that sometimes people have bad days.

As a Korean let me tell ya somethin
Koreans are generally very BM on the internet REGARDLESS of game, forums or wikis. You know why? Because its the internet, why should they care? Most korean netizens are also trolls/fishers who don't give a shit what happens.
Just don't take it seriously and don't try to pick a fight with words with them. Why? Because chances are they won't remember you. And think of it this way, the guy who BM'd you probably skipped school and is eating ramen at a local PC cafe. Who wins life?

I remember that, I told this French Protoss TiQ Player that he should attack with 8 base against my natural expansion^^! Maybe it was a little bit out of place as I could have left, but its by no means equal to "fuck you son of a bitch" "go die" or something :p

Mmm the guy i'm talking about is Bulgarian. ( TiQ.Lozova ) Anyway i don't really care. When i have a bad day i can be bm too :/ Maybe the Korean you played was just in a bad mood.

If the game was on Return of the King it was the same game we are talking about. Maybe he was Bulgarian.. ! Also I guess I'm not the most mannered person! :S But usually I don't insult people at least

As soon as a Korean thinks you might win the game, he'll start asking you whether you're korean. I've had this happen to me so many times. And he won't give up until he's satisfied by you admitting you're "really" korean.

ITS A REPLAY???????
And on topic, most koreans I see are extremely mannered but it might just be because of the language barrier.
|
Have you noticed how cocky and proud of their country they are sometimes?
As soon as i asked em where are they from and i'm telling us i'm from france i noticed they try to play their best show and to impress me ( strategies ,flashy micro etc..) because they think they are the best in the world and some of them just cant imagine to lose vs a foreigner. What becomes such a pleasure is when I beat them badly especially when they failed a gosu move and then have to turtle hoping a come back , then max up pure ownage . Such delicious lol

Koreans are generally not very mannered on the internet.
|
Im pretty sure the koreans are the only people who banned me from a channel for being bm
anyways dont be picky on koreans, it wouldnt be fair to say they're bm when everyone else is too.
also, the average age of koreans playing sc is low, meaning alot of them are kids

not really china,.. i mean, korea ~ japan, jews ~ nazi

People bm because: - they're 12yo kids - it's the internet - they have bad days - personality
People dont bm because they're from a particular country
|
well i think people from any country can be be bm, but i have noticed that there is different types of bm from different countries. Like the US is loud mouth trashing talking bm, and Koreans bm in a manner of arrogance and snobish attitudes like they are superior

I hate it when Koreans talkin in Korean to you after they learned you aren't korean. WTF are they thinking? Not only do I know nothing Korean, even if I did my computer can't even display it.
So then I respond in Dutch or also put in some &^(*^$%^ glibbish, which they should know they are inputting towards me.
|
isn't it standard type in iccup /dnd before you start playing... messaging is reduced a lot and there is bonus where people try to whisper you back "gg" when they win and I leave without saying it. Damn bad manner to whisper back.

lol, i usually never respond when they type korean to me, im just too lazy to press enter and type in stuff...xD. But if they give me a gg, i'd hae to type a gg back for mannerism.

I hardly get any "gg"'s from any opponents nowdays if I win and I wont whisper back "gg" just to get satisfaction of typing it (if they left without typing it)
I'd say around 5-10% types gg when they lose.

koreans might think americans are bm too because of UsEast, there are many different reasons for one person to be bm. just don't worry about it. There are more mannered koreans than bm ones.

not saying GG does not make you BM

It happens all the time just deal with it (: And even after I leave the game, they keep cursing and cursing so all I say is shut up (닥쳐) and /dnd ^^

Damn bad manner to whisper back. More bm of you to leave without saying it. That's debatable though. If someone doesn't say gg they probably don't think it was a gg... if I get 4pooled or some shit and die insanley fast to some cheesey shit I usually don't say gg either. I would refer to that Not saying GG thread but I can't find it in the search. Not saying gg isn't considered BM by everyone, but msging someone "gg" after a game when you know they didn't want to say is considered BM all the time basically. It's pretty humiliating when someone msg's me "gg" when they know you did not want to say it, at least for me...
|
And added bonus if you don't talk inside game you tend to get more serious games (especially if opponent tries to ask something from you) as he wants to beat no talking players. They make less mistakes this way. Which is good for practise (considering I have 35% win rate)
|
I marine rushed a korean toss and he was spamming ^^

Well... in my experience germans are the worst. I don't think there has been many ladder games or clanwars I've played against germans where the player in question didn't trashtalk after he lost.
I generally like the way koreans are, usually they don't say shit. At least not people playing in the blue or green field. They just want to improve and massgame so they usually stay quiet.

Is this like a fashion or what? It's like every x months some country get's to be called bm and bashed by everyone who has had at least 1 bad experience against one of that country. One of the first BM debates I remember was about spanish people and their annoying xDDDDDDDDDD[...and many more D's] and the blind nationalist pride they tried to show off everywhere . Then some months later it was Russia's turn. It all started with "Androide is a lil piece of shit I will beat to death when I see him at WCG", and suddenly news and pics of Russian WCG team members getting wasted with vodka and trashing hotel rooms where all over the place. Now it's time for the koreans, although they get to repeat, which I guess comes with being the easy target.
I have been traveling all my life, from the USA to different countries in Europe, including China and Korea, and if I have learned one thing is that there are idiots everywhere. The only difference is that the type of idiocy varies, from cockyness to narrow minded morons, so it will bother you more or less depending on what you dislike more.
I bet that if you went to any GBR-1, GER-1, FRA-1, ESP-1, or whatever, you could find at least 5 bm idiots in a 20 min margin.

rofl his is a pretty funny discussion. Koreans are people to so obv they can be just as bm. It's just they're average skill level is a bit higher than others. lewl

In my opinion there is no bad or worse.
Anywhere, you go in the world there will be good and bad people.
Perhaps, Asians are stereotyped to be family oriented, and respectful. But with the turn of the century and the ways life is changing in those eastern countries, most people are no different from Westerns.
While there might be a lot of people who hold onto old fashioned values, there will be a lot of Asians who are very xenophobic.
Then and again, its not good to generalize. Some koreans are good and GM, some are too proud and BM. Some westerns are good and GM, some are Americans! Jk jk. =) <3 But yah, some Westerns folks are just as badly BM as anyone else.

Lol yesterday I was playing and the kid asks from?
I said USA and he said spain.
He ends up getting into this long-winded conversation about whether or not I love soccer (I do not... sometimes it's kind of fun to play, but watching it is boring, just like most other sports), but he couldn't understand my responses because his english was pretty poor. So finally I just kept responding no no no no no no when he'd ask if i loved soccer, and so he attack moved on me since clearly he was pissed that I didn't like his national sport.
lol

lol Well in your defence it is really boring to watch.
I cant read korean so if they bm me I dont understand it. And I usually dont respond to what they are writing unless I play teamgames and then I say "sorry no hangul", plus make sure they know I'm not american and they are mostly mannered. The home of BM is still US-east imo.

Yeah, I've encountered sooo much more BM in one DAY on USEast than in all the time I've ever spent on ICCup, and I play around the C/D area mostly, and that's probably where a majority of the BM is located.
And yeah, SC:BW >>>>>>> Soccer/Futbol/etc.

I think there's been exactly one person who has been really BM to me, and he was like a B Toss who had just reset his account. I mean seriously... if you have time to talk trash, reaver micro, and keep your macro up you probably aren't D buddy. I can count the number of PvP's I've won on Iccup on one hand and this guy wouldn't shut up the moment he had an advantage. Pretty sure he was from the US.
Otherwise, I've probably been more BM than the people I've played against. I've tried to force myself to say gg, and largely do. A few times I've just had to quit so I wouldn't say anything stupid.
|
Koreans are people and people can be mean so Koreans can be mean. Simple. You'll meet some nice people, you'll meet some mean people, I just try to brush it off. Not much you can do about it really...
|
The worst, imo, is when they start BMing you when you are losing, no matter if you were mannered towards them in the start or not. I have encountered this a couple of times on Iccup, and it is really awful. From different nationalities of course, not only Koreans. E.g. when some toss asshole goes center gates and then starts calling you noob... I don't really feel like saying GG in those cases.
|

Although I agree that Koreans generally are overconfident of their skill over foreigners (I couldn't convince a guy that there are good foreigners... maybe I wasn't clear on the definition of "good") the amatuer level is certainly much more higher than "a bit higher".
I think it's just that the top amatuers (or amatuers at all) don't play on ICCUP.
|
No one says gg on iccup I don't care anymore
|
I once played this hacking Korean that I thought I was beating because he was starving and he was only using like 12 queens to broodling my templar, using maphack to avoid me killing them.
I had to lose cause he also mineral hacked. He kept thrash talking me the whole time while he knew I knew he was at least cheating. Probably triggered that when he almost died to my speedlot timing and lost like most of his drones.
|
I wasn't aware that koreans disliked china, is it because they support N korea?
|
|
hmm my experiences on iccup are the opposite, i always say "hi" and they say "hi from?" and i say "australia, you from?" and they say "kor" and i say "cool" and i say "you like esport?" and they say "yes ^^" and then i just say random progamer names and they say random progamer names and then we play and whoever loses says gg... happens alot and they are, 9 times out of 10, very very mannered
it may be because i'm in the same timezone as korea, and i generally play at night so then like...the mannered people play at night... o.o (in korea)
foreigners on the other hand... T_T
|
Koreans seem to think its cool when i tell them im from canada, its always "oo canada cool ^^" or "canada nice place". But alot of times they will ask if im american first, when i tell them im not they're like "good, yankee dumbfuck" and shit like that.
|
lol i played a korean the other day and when i three raxed him the next thing i got
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
he still gg'd when he lost.
koreans are the most funny to play against ive only had 2 say gg the other one was after i sent in bc in a TvT
he goes "What the fuck?" "Gg"
generally i dont get gg's from anyone
