"Europeans and Non-Europeans" "Gerbils and Non-Gerbils"
etc.

non christians are going to hell. nuff said.

hey, it's good to see someone put up what they believe. the path that the bible teaches is defeinitely narrow. and with the ecumenical movement attacking anything fundamentalist, , the bible teaching a message of separation won't be taken kindly by everyone else who will say "mix".
since you're not adverse to longer thought provoking videos, ill recommend to you a great revelations seminar. He goes thru it very methodically, exposing how the bible was changed, who secret societies really worship, and what the philosophy of the UN is. very occult.

remember, in christ, you will be ridiculed, that's a guarantee. but "he who overcomes will be given the crown of life." and one day all the hate, extortion, lies, and propaganda will all be gone. keep it up

Kind of a long video to say everybody is going to hell.

Yeah...

know what that is? logical fallacy, look it up.
According to other religions you're going to hell also for not believing in their religion Lol, so what facts do you base your statement on anyway? got some friends in hell?

Honestly I am very open minded and anyone can believe anything as long as it doesn't hurt someone. But I'm sure the catholic church people who frown upon condoms in africa are the first ones that go to hell

claiming that something is truth, and then telling eveyrone and letting them decide is different from claiming something is truth and then pulling a gun or making laws and forcing people to change or die. don't confuse tolerance and freedom of ideas and freedom of choice with forcing.
christian doctrine is that there is truth, and there is no middle ground about it. but u know what? they give you a choice. it's worlds apart from a military/political power forcing you to join or die.
any truth necessitates and implies that others are wrong. example you're pidgeon holing me! asthma must be treated in such and such a way. "What? are you saying all other treatments are wrong?" um.. yah. but when a doctor claims the truth about asthma, he still gives you freedom of choice to get the treatment or not right? it would be quite different if he pressed a red button that sent metal doors down, triggered strapping devices and forced the treatment on you. now if that doctor really didn't want you to get sick, and yet still respect your freedom of choice, is he then going to take back his words about the truth of asthma? no. there is only the right way and wrong way. no middle ground.
so those that cannot fathom a god that simultaneously loves you, isn't willing that any should perish, claims "you're with me or against me", and does not deny hell, well then here's at least one example of such a situation that all may be familiar with.
if one cannot distinguish that christian doctrine consists of freedom of choice as well as truth, then he is being the superficial, ignorant, and pigeon holing one.
|
What you said still contains logical fallacy, i'm sorry. Explain to me what happens to children who didn't get a chance to know god and died. Hell for sure right? I'm not with you or against you, i believe people who do good things for other people their whole lives do not deserve to go to hell just because they didn't believe, you get what i'm saying?
|
Either something is true or it isn't. There is no middle ground. In religions, you can't know what's true. Each religion has different truths, if you believe in one religion you'll automatically violate some rules of other religions (and therefore go to hell or whatever). So it comes down to which religion is the right one. Well, people say there aren't any false ones, so... in essence you have multiple truths available (funny, isn't it?), and choose one by believing in one religion (most likely you just use the one dominant in your country and don't even inform yourself about the other choices, because you are "infected" by it at child's age already, at an age where you can't yet fully question everything and just take whatever religion your peers believe in for granted), but you'll never know if it's the right one. And if all religions are right then all these different truths are right too. But that leads to several conflicts and thus there is NO truth at all. It's like saying 2+2=3 and 2+2=5 is both true as long as you believe in one (and in the end both is bullshit anyway). So, newsflash: religions just don't make any sense. Neither of them. And the more people take their religious scriptures seriously, the crazier they are. Fundamentalists basically take every single word from their religion as the absolute truth, and this makes them dangerous madmen. So this means that the "best" religious people are actually the ones who don't believe everything their religious scriptures tell them, the ones who make up their own rules about how their religion should be, the ones who interpret the rules in a way they like it best. And that's funny too.

Man techniq, you seriously make me laugh. Lol.
"I feel this is my obligation to help save people so they dont burn in hell for eternity. My God, the correct God obviously because he has to be, will be sending you to burn and suffer for as long as time exists if you don't believe. So you BETTER START BELIEVING!"
Someone post the carlin video please.
Also do you think God creates homosexuals and automatically hates them?
Also if God has a plan for everyone (which is what I was taught when I went to a Christian school for 10 years), and knows what everyone becomes, wouldn't that mean that if we go to hell or heaven is predetermined?
|
Believe what you want to believe. If people don't like it, so be it. You believe what you believe and then you die.

It's genetics, not free will, although some people do choose to become gay for many different reasons within their environment. There is homosexuality in animals as well.

The nature/nurture debate is pointless anyway given both are out of the control of the gay in question and therefore unless you wish to argue that sexuality is a free choice he's equally blameless in either case.

Alot of valuble info in this thread from both sides.
I used to be a hardcore chirstian. Now I really dont know, I guess I somehow believe. But I have a hard time seeing God in everything, and how God actually helps us in our life. I mean in the end its all about how we interpret things. We can just imagine so much that we believe is from God wich actually isnt. And sometimes it ends up with men blindly going upto women they are blindly in love with, saying "God told me that you were THE ONE, now marry me!" and she is like "Wtf? who are you?". That was just an example. But there are LOADS of those moments. Our thoughts are just to much in the way. Also Gods ways are so confusing and unclear. Why?
btw. Paul Walker is so strict. Either you love him and take his message seriously. Or you just laugh at him and ditch him for beeing some kind of a strict old school christian.

i was tempted to write up a compelling argument, but then i realized the mind-set i am dealing with. I was a Christian for 17years and i can only advise those trying to debate this guy to just give up, hes a Christian in this day and age for a reason, hes stubborn and he wont fully consider anything that doesn't agree with his belief.

I actually listened to the whole thing, and am dissapointed. He basically said the same thing over and over again: -I love you (shrills in his voice, crying) -most of you will go to Hell -only my Church is right -even if you think you have faith, I know better, and you don't. -stop living in sin -but oh, that's impossible -only way not to burn in Hell for all Eternity is for your life to change completely (I liked the truck analogy) -"the muslims killed him!!" -I am your moral superior, I have been everywhere -People won't invite me back because they don't like what I have to say (I am way better than them) -Even your priest will burn in Hell
Yes, I am biased. But he is bigoted. If he is right, then all of Christianity up until now has been wrong. He depicts a hateful god... and insists on it! So God loves his creation, but he hates his children. That argument was not convincing at all. That was probably blasphemy too.
The guilt trip was quite extraordinary. I must live like Jesus! Not watch TV that God despises! Would Jesus play SC? No. Crap! We are all going to Hell! AAAAAHHH
He talks a lot about the Bible, but his quotations are sporadic, and in fact his whole speech seems detached from the spirit of the Gospel. It sounded like a paranoid man talking about what the Bible might say. He does not preach love but fear. I am done wasting my time on him. Goodnight.
EDIT @ fgsvsd if you want to find out about Judaism, you can of course read stuff, but the best thing would be to find a knowledgable and willing Jew to talk to about it. Otherwise it is easy to miss the spirit of it and get caught up in details. There are also several schools of thought, but I am too ignorant to try to explain that stuff and also this thread isn't the best place.

Also lack of confidence. As a child, you have your parents for assistance and to watch over you, when you grow up your'e on your own - so you imagine yourself a higher being which watches over all people who behave according to its rules (though most of them are written down as law anyway, the rest is common sense. So no real need for them). You also imagine that people who do NOT behave like that, will eventually get into hell, but of course not right now (insta-teleport into heaven/hell would be cool, no?), not at all while you still live... just somehow after their death. And your own reward also doesn't exist before your death. So yeah I guess that sounds amazing, really good deal. And of course once you've started with that belief, you'll begin to relate every positive thing happening in your life to god, strengthening the delusion.
Now I'm not saying that there are no higher beings... maybe there are, maybe there is something which we could call god. But that would be absolutely NOT a god as described by our popular religions. That's just way too ridiculous to even imagine. Our religious scriptures are so full of inconsistencies, legacy crap (why is there no modern Moses to update some of the shit? Ah right, he would end up being thrown into the next asylum of course, and rightfully so...), extremely intolerant writings, bugs and ambiguity that it's completely worthless. Religiously knowledgeable people always interpret them in ways they see fit, i.e. they implicitly change the meaning, if only slightly, because as it is written it is mostly crap which is not at all applicable anymore to current times. If you live 100% by it, you're insane, if you don't live 100% by it your God should be angry about you anyway. So you're either insane or retarded, sounds like a cool choice.
By the way there are some funny graphs relating the average IQ level of the population to how many people are religious. The result is: the higher the IQ level, the lower the number of religious people. I really think that pretty much says it all.

I'll quote what someone said a while a go as to one good reason why people believe in God.
On July 17 2008 01:49 SirKibbleX wrote: Why do anorexic girls think that they're fat? Because they repeatedly tell themselves that they are. Over the years they FEEL horrible about themselves, this negative emotion builds and builds until they completely believe they are fat, and no amount of telling them otherwise or having them look in the mirror will change that as the belief system resides prominantly in the emotional brain, not the logical brain.
There is no evidence that God exists, so why do people kill themselves in his name? Because they believe he does. They have so much emotion attached to the idea of a God and redemption in the afterlife conditioned from early childhood. All those years they have been convinced and convinced themselves by putting huge amounts of emotional faith in this idea that no simple intellectual understanding can remove.

God loves His children, yeah. But then how can you display and express your love to someone who doesnt respect you, follow you, or even AKNOWLEDGE your existence. He does have this love. Us, through our sins (past+present+future) that we have become so hard to love, not in any part of His "hate".
btw, we have this option to choose to ignore Him because it is the better alternative. some people put up that argument, why cant God just give us everything so we'd love him naturally. there is no choice there, its not meaningful love, it's forced. robots cant love if they've been programmed these emotions.
also, "we must live like Jesus" is not step 1. step 1 is accepting Him and our salvation. the whole point of Christianity is the fact that we are NOT saved by deeds in ANY way. after we get step 1, we take the natural step 2 of living a new life not by our own efforts, but with His help and inspiration. then your life will turn around, AFTER receiving Christ. as he said it, it is impossible to just "stop living in sin", because by our own efforts thats just how it is.

For all those hardcore beleivers, be it christianity or atheism, i really recommend you go out and watch the movie Religulous, it isnt an anti religious documentary or anything it just asks questions that need to be asked. It will make u think.
There was also a great interveiw on The Daily Show, for Canadians its here: http://watch.thecomedynetwork.ca/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart/full-episodes#clip21900
American views can find it on comedynetwork.com, i beleive..its september 30th's episode
Just for the record im not for or against any religion, i went to a catholic high school, and my father is just now becoming involved in 'preaching the word'. But id say this has only made me more sceptical about religion. Anyway i really recommend you at least watch the interview portion of the episode, its under about 15min long.
[edit] Yeah the link doesnt work perfectly but at the bottom just select The Daily Show and september 30th, clip 2 is when the interveiw starts and it continues through to the end.

Well you can tell which is the right one because of this. There are 3 abrahamic religions. 2 are to do with the love of the law with no way to really get clean of sin. The remaining one tells you how it is, that you are broken in sin and you deserve to die but there is a way to be clean of your sin for someone to have taken all of that wrath in your place. God himself Jesus Christ both man and God the perfect sacrafice and the holy son of God the darling of heaven.
It is not for me to tell you which one you need to follow your salvation is between you and God and God actually works in a person before they hear the message, the gospel without God's ministering won't produce saving faith but if you are hearing the message of the video I posted and believe and you test yourself against the bible after you put your faith in Jesus and you use the bible as a mirror of how you should be and if the checks balance if you are following the narrow path and you keep getting rebuked from sinning by the Holy Spirit you always feel guilty and broken and you always try and try to get rid of your sin after becoming a Christian and your always growing and changing and challenging yourself then sir you are saved and God is ministering unto you and will disipline you each time you come off that narrow path and put you right back on it because he loves you despite your former sins you have been cleansed by your older brother the Lord Jesus's blood who was sacrificed in our place.

You'd think for credibility Christianity (Or Judaism) would be the first religion known to man.
But unfortunately its one of the newer religions. Maybe God was just screwing around until he felt like coming out of the closet.

You can say God or Lord or Holy Spirit etc as many times as you want, but it doesn't make them exist.
That post looks like the dribbling of someone who is brain washed. It's like you think talking in the style that is like what is said in the bible makes you correct in your own mind. lol

I gotta agree with micronesia here. Your original statement of "Them be some crazies" implies an argument. (that you are right and they are wrong/crazy.) True its just an opinion, but then when micronesia points out that the believers could call YOU crazy he's still right.

I will not be answering any negative comments by anyone That's the first step to being open minded and discovering truth.
I feel a religious obligation to post You have a religious obligation to be a troll? That's incredible.
You might not care, or want to read this, but I'm going to tell you why I don't like Christianity. I don't like it, because it's fucking cowardly. It's cowardly to let go of all logic and reason, to ignore a cruel and cold world, and to give up on the reality you know most scientifically to be real. For what? So you can sleep easy at night. So you can say to yourself 'everything is going to be okay.' So you can live in a world of convenient lies, comforting falsities, and blissful ignorance.
Well fuck you. You don't deserve any of the fruits of science that someone had to say "I wonder why this is?" and not immediately answer "God," to obtain. You're fools who take the easy way out, who can't live with the world as you see it with your senses. You make things up to feel better about the world. I will bleed, sweat, be cold, be hungry, be fearful, and be the opposite of every one of those until I've died. What happens to me after that I don't know. I couldn't even tell you for certain that it will happen. What I can tell you, is that I will live in the world I know to the best of my ability, and I will never take such an easy way out of sadness or frustration. I will never live a life based around lies and weak circumstantial evidence just to ease that pain.
That's what I think. That's what I almost always (this is the first exception) think, but never say, around conservative Christian folks and any other religion that I see forsaking truth for comfort.
PS: BTW, I don't hate cowards. I hate cowards who tell me I should be like them. It's one thing for me to work so hard, see that the world is full of terrible things, and then to live with it every day, and another for someone to tell me that I'M the fool somehow for living the tougher but truer path. Live how you want, but let others live how they want as well. That's why I'm mostly silent around these people. But if I feel like I'm being directly insulted for being more or less agnostic leaning toward atheist, I will fight fire with fire until you shut up.

You explain your views on the Christian belief system well, but I don't feel like they are really a response to my post. You are saying that God loves us despite our sins. This is normal Christian theology. What this video tells us is that God HATES most of us. Not only that, the guy claims that most of the audience is sinners, and then goes on about how much he loves them. In other words, he is purporting to be superior to God.
Can you love someone with no reciprocity? Haven't you? I have. In religion, this is a basic premise of monotheism. It is one of the nice aspects of divine kindness. The "why can't God give us everything" idea is one of the main paradoxes of all religions with loving all-powerful god(s). It is a fascinating idea to debate, maybe we should start a thread just for that. It seems off-topic here, as the video speaks not of kindness, charity and love but selfishness and fear.
Your views on how Christians should live accurately describe the doctrine of certain Churches. I spoke to an Anglican Reverend in Stockholm about whether all non-Anglicans go to Hell. He told me that each religion is in its own way a path to God. Though this isn't written in the Bible, it is self-evident if you accept the God paradigm.
I don't know if you have watched the whole video, but if you do there is a chance that it will creep you out. The guy just comes off as totally disgusting and self-absorbed. He takes himself for a prophet. I will not argue against Christianity; you guys can believe what you want. I just really dislike this fear-monger and his hateful hate-filled message.

Your arguments here suffer greatly from two flaws: internal logic and fallacy.
To begin with, you say "2 are to do with the love of the law with no way to really get clean of sin". The idea that Judaim and Islam do not show you how to avoid sin and seek holiness is preposterous. Perhaps someone told you that, but he was ignorant. For instance, in Judaism rabbis have distinguished about 613 "mitzvot" or good deeds, things that you should do to be righteous with respect to humanity and with respect to God. The first 5 commandments tell you how to act towards God, the last five towards man (if you disagree with me on number five, I'll explain it to you). There is no Hell to scare you into submission, just the love of God to inspire you. All that's missing is Jesus (but hey, there are lots of other cool chaps most Christians have never heard of!).
Now, you will tell me: all this is very good, but you have no way to "wash off" your sins. Gogo Jesus gg no re. But wait a second. In Christianity, you have all these sins that make you "deserve to die" and thus need you to be "saved". These are inventions of Christianity. The reason Islam does not specify the "narrow path to salvation" you must follow is that it does not state that there is a need for any. They don't tell you how to be saved because there is not the same concept of savation. There is righteousness and belief in God and that Mohammed is the last prophet. However, Muslims must respect other "people of the book" (of course, some don't, but they should). This negates the idea that Jews and Christians would be considered hateful by God. Why would they be damned? Basically, you are applying a uniquely Christian idea to other religions, and saying: "hey, they don't solve this problem", when in fact those religions do not consider that there is a problem.
Essentially, you argue: Jews and Muslims do not have Jesus, yet Jesus is the Lord and Saviour, therefore Jews and Muslims are wrong. This is no basis for proving a religion right. The sophism highlights your internal logic.
Furthermore, you assume that one of the 3 abrahamic religions might be right. What if they have all gotten it wrong?
EDIT sorry for double post.

Almost every person of every religion claims to have a relationship (be it a back and forth dialogue or simply 'feeling' him) with God, so whats your take on that? They all just happen to be wrong and you're right?

I will make a massive post during this weekend after I read through this whole blog. I know people think he is trolling but I hope he doesn't get banned or anything. He seems to like to talk a lot about the other abrahamic Religions, especially Islaam and Muslims without even knowing what they believe or how they worship God and such. Just making general statements and everything probably based on stuff he read in articles and on the news/documentaries.
I suggest you read 'Is the Bible God's Word' by Ahmed Deedat or look at some of his videos.
I will do my best to do a comprehensive knowledge based reply to his statements during the weekend.

First of all, not all Christians are as you say they are. Yes most conservative Christian folks are definitely wrong in the head. For me, a berserk Christian dude and his campus crusade were marching around holding signs saying YOU WILL GO TO HELL, LOVE JESUS OR ELSE," trying to scare people into loving Jesus and Christianity. But not all Christians are those psychotic right-wing douchebags, there's the other side of Christians where people help those in need out of love instead of "converting" other people so that their own souls get saved. There's also the Christians who don't give care much for spreading the word, they simply believe that we were created by God and not from a random bigbang.
Secondly, being a Christian doesn't make you ignorant to sadness, frustration, pain, or anything. Christians and non-Christians still experience this because we are all human. Christians and non-Christians are more alike then they are different. Yes, Christians may pray about their problems whether it be to God but that doesn't mean they are forsaking truth for comfort (unless you are talking about death, heaven, etc but you are 1031% sure there is no God right?
Thirdly, there is no need to be such a defensive pussy wank when the Christians around you..erm.. make fun of you not being a Christian. It may be annoying, but insulting? Who cares? Aren't you a level above these ignorant, truth forsakers?
Edit: needless to say this retard preaching in the video is homo (not gay.. maybe) and the person who linked to that horrid video is delusional
|
Eye for an eye... Those who think the person in the video is angry and judgmental show the exact same anger and judgment towards religious people. Just like how the preacher isn't going to win any souls by being an ass, your demeaning manner towards the OP isn't going to help him "see the light" (of science, Judaism, whatever). Kinda like how the other religious (Islamic) poster in this thread is being courteous and explaining his position, which has a greater chance of 'converting' him. Although I guess if your purpose of replying is to insult rather than inform the OP then it doesn't really matter how you reply, I'm just pointing out you're not going to get anywhere with him if you're going to start a debate with abuse.

Hehe. Not to mention that if you imagine you were almighty, omnipresent and immortal, would you choose a planet full of evolved monkeys to love and care about as if you couldn't create anything better? Would you "mate" with a monkey female to produce a monkey you would then call your *son* (really, wtf?). And when the monkeys die you send some which you like to heaven (God is probably lonely for some reason?). I mean it's funny if you think about it *that* way, isn't it... when you don't simply accept the things as they are written, but when you question the *intent* of God's actions and inactions... or when you imagine yourself in the role of him/her/it. Then many things don't make any sense. Sure, the religious people have one convenient excuse for that: they simply say "his ways are unexplainable", which basically ends all discussions without bringing anything useful to the table. That's why I come to this conclusion: if God exists, he's gotta be one really bored, crazy mofo, and maybe *that's* why you should be scared of him...

This. No, people have free will. They choose to be homosexuals. Only through their choices can they stray from the path of the lord.
Wait you're being sarcastic right?

I hope you're just being more sarcastic. It's not like gay people make the choice to be gay and get made fun of and beat up through grade school. If you ARE being sarcastic, don't be like "lol retard I was joking," I have no way of telling.

Well since according to the Christians the world is only like 4000 years old, maybe Hinduism and dinosaurs were around at the same time? Makes me lole.

And according to Athiests, the world came into being via the a fiery explosion cause by flatulent alien lifeforms.
What's the point of making ignorant (or generalized) statements like these? I guess it's so you can fit in with the rest of the crowd.

I guess it's so you can fit in with the rest of the crowd. I had to read this again to realize you weren't making ignorant statements yourself haha. First of all, his choice of 4000 is funny since the Jewish Calendar is up to more like 5768 or so (I can't remember to within one year). Second of all, it's true that not all Christians honestly believe the universe was created at that point. However, I do think it's safe to say that most die-hard hardcore believers do think that, and most of the other followers are less serious. If I'm wrong, please explain how it really is.
|
That's true, the number that came to mind at the time was 6000. I know of a few people who hold this belief, but I also know Christians who are evolutionists, and I don't think it detracts from their "faith" because it isn't a truly core belief in Christianity. There are so many denominations which have varying opinions on certain facets of the religion, but [hopefully] they all believe in the core things (God, Salvation, etc.). Of course, in order to take on this perspective, you cannot take every part of the Bible literally (i.e. Creationism), while other things make take some more modern interpretation because they are no longer culturally relevant (i.e. Old Testament Law).
Back to the Young-Earth theory, if you believe in an all-powerful God, then it would perfectly possible to create the earth in any state. To create an Earth with its history is another question.

Wow, I just realize how badly worded that was. I meant that an earth with its history would be suspect; what would the purpose behind it be? (People have brought this up before.)

I just finished listening to the whole video from beginning to end.
Actually I am under the impression that the type of christian that he describes or his view of a proper christian is the right one. Shouldn't someone who believes in something act like he believes and not just say it? What good are words without action? How can someone be a good proper christian and he is watching porn and doing this and that and everything which is known that Jesus disliked and preached again and remember that jesus said 'I did not come to change the law but to uphold it' meaning the law of Moses and the prophets before him.
I think everything the guy said is right in his understanding [i.e his understanding of Christianity.

Exactly, if you were born in the middle east or some african tribe chances are you will go with one of their religions. mega corrrect. offend others religions are an act of ignorance can u blame a person for being born in a place where X religion doesnt exists? that proves that god -existing or no- doesnt need u to believe in religions-nor in him- but believe in the goodness of ur acts, that the most important thing
No, people have free will. They choose to be homosexuals. Only through their choices can they stray from the path of the lord.
lol, never heard of anyonee who said, naaah im gonna go homo today... to me its a mental deviation
|
Yesterday's deviants are today's revolutionary heroes.
Pretty arbitrary to say "this religion says this, so everything else must be wrong."
But using the Christian religion for a baseline makes even less sense to me. The Bible praises many different people who do some things that many Christians would abhor, such as infanticide and polygamy and slavery and rape. Sure, the situation was different, right? So if the correct situation comes up again, God would approve of me performing those actions?
Personally, I think religion was a nice way to answer unanswerable questions. But it becomes dangerous when religion starts answering answerable questions with nonexistent logic and demonizing people who would otherwise not be considered harmful or dangerous or evil at all.

im not judgin anyone's deviance, i just stated that homesexualism is a mental deviance
