Part of a long (and everlasting!) series. Others here
My flight is in 5 hours. I've got my visa... The luggage is packed....Ticket is in hand....And I can't fucking wait.
Last week was pretty crazy, mainly with saying good bye to friends and family. I took a couple of good friends to my favourite Korean restaurant (in London) on Sat. It's an awesome little place with good looking food and great looking waitresses.
I'm not a big drinker at all and the two friends aren't exactly heavyweights. But we decided to replicate a little bit of Korean culture right there and started ordering soju bottles one after another.
One hour later, we were all completely soju-ed, and in hindsight probably pissing off everyone else in the restaurant. Two hours later, the waitress says we can't order any more soju. Three hours later, my friend mini-vomits into his glass of water. I say mini-vomit, but he did in fact vomit. BUT, drawing on previously unseen supernatural powers, he actually swallowed back down most of the vomit before running out the restaurant. Lovely.
On to more serious things... It's incredible how little information I have about what happens when I get to Korea. All I know is that I have to be at "the Family Mart at Exit F of Incheon airport". From there, I will be bundled into a van and hopefully not lose any kidneys.
I have NO CLUE where I'll be staying except it will be in the Great Metropolis that is Seoul. I also have no clue as to where I'll be teaching except that its a high school. From my reading of other people's experiences.. there are lots of variables that that could really fuck up my fun. (Shit accommodation, boss, co-teacher) etc. I'm sure it will be fine and if nothing else, I will be able to retreat to my sanctuary of live SC matches and unlimited bibimbap.

Oh and the vomit part, my friend once puked in his glass as well, but this was at a huge party. I rofled so hard :D

Hahaha have fun dude, Korea is freaking awesome. Definitely go to some Starcraft matches, you aren't Asian so you'll definitely get on TV. And hold up an uber-retarded sign.

Don't worry about getting lost at Incheon, it's very easy to navigate around. I mean granted nobody will speak English [ haha ] but there's big huge letters [ in English ] for the sections at the airport. Its split up into letters which is very nice.
Family mart is just like a nationwide grocery store chain. There's billions of them in Korea, but I'm guessing there will be one at area F. Its not a huge place by any means but its usually a green-ish sign.

Actually most of the airport staff speak decent/perfect English so you definitely won't have problems with getting lost. I'll be at all the events this month so see you there and have a safe trip.

I lost my phone at Incheon for an hour or so and I spoke to I'd say...hmm 40 employees? None of them spoke English at all.
The only people who spoke English were the people who work at the designated information desks.
Maybe my experience was just different that day.
Edit: To be clear I'm referring to Incheon airport employees not those employed by the airlines. They speak very good English.

You achieved my dream - I wanna visit S. Korea once, but I can't even fathom how to make that happen - yet. So you better have a blast for two people - you and me! + all the others that want to go but can't.

Hey Dude! Good luck on the trip and such (I suppose you already got there or disappeared by now).
I only moved to Seoul last week for a new job, if you ever fancy going out for a pint or dinner or something, gimme a shout! Just lemme know what the nearest subway is to you and we can get some dinner or something! It'd be nice to meet new people, especially if we can go watch some SC matches or play! : ]

yet you'd be surprised at how incompetent they are at it.
(then again i learned spanish in high school and would probably get raped in mexico).
