I know it's just "fun" writing, but come on. Ridiculous...

Actually the whole concept of Big Bang is at least as ridiculous than the OP. I mean wtf could have lead to the Big Bang ?

it's just a fantasy as good as any theory concerning the beginning of our universe. i thought: "hey, what could happen if they simulate the Big Bang? And the thought crossed my mind that it could be just like domino day and the "event" is triggered again. this is a hypothetical thought i wanted to express and if you are upset about it.. well.. i failed my goal. it was designed to be a very overdone and fantastic thought that "fits in well" at the moment. so please.. don't take it too seriously - i meant no harm to your petty souls!

I remember an interesting short story about a group of scientists. They were creating a perfect simulation of the universe from the beginning of time. So they ran the simulation and moved it forward to the present day where they observed themselves running the simulation. They decided to make contact with the people in the simulation by opening a portal into the simulated world. Just then, a portal opens behind them...

I like when people create fun "thought experiments" like this. Kudos to you, Ghardo.

i just found it somehow inspiring to think about some fictional possibilities that could happen if you have such a wonder machine like the LHC that can allegedly simulate a Big Bang and that's also where i saw the comparison to Domino Day.. you just give the first domino a little shove and the game runs for itself. like some apes experimenting with a machine they don't entirely understand and accidentally destroy themselves. very cynical fantasy, yes. i fear this fiction can hardly be twisted in a way that harmonious lifeforms are being seen "beneficial" by an intelligent universe.. the repetition i mentioned makes the whole concept highly deterministic and leaves no future beyond the human race and their ever occuring "failure". but if we aren't thinking in deterministic terms - sure! why not.. the thought experiment would be expendable, the human race at its present state could be viewed as a transition, a childlike lifeform that still has lots to learn and needs to rid itself of its rivaling roots (let's call it capitalism ). if we aren't thinking deterministic there could be a universe, a reality in which the process isn't started anew but continues beyond that level... bright future! ps: anyone who reads this should be entirely aware that it's just pure fantasizing and therefore requires the reader to pretend this could be reality (though it differs from what you view as reality). just calling it ridiculous is a bit dull imho - i know what it looks like.
