If you are a low level player, so around like C+/B- would you pretend to be a girl, so that a player of like B+ A- ++ would help you get better? The point of this game is to try to get better and win, so if you trick some random guy into teaching you, i mean then you just ggnore'd him.

usually if you make a well thought post in the strategy forum, or even a blog asking for help, there is good advice and many people willing to help you out. you could ask zia if he's happy about his choice though, I almost guarantee he'll say he's not.

I suppose it's a question of how much you respect on-line relationships. If you feel the internet is a place of lower moral standards, then pretending to be a girl may not be a big deal to you. But most people wouldn't agree and view you as a creep. The people who would treat you better are idiots anyway. But if you're dead set on being an jerk then don't do what a guy I met on europe did: I entered a public 1v1 game and at some point between the gl hf gg go this particular person says "btw I'm a girl". That's the dumbest, most obvious give-away possible. Also, don't name yourself "xXxGurL6969", my sisters never make such blatant gender-proclaiming usernames, and they're as girl as they get. Hey why am I giving you tips anyway, I think the only thing more pathetic than the fake girls are the guys who go crazy over them. I always follow the rule "Treat everyone you only know through the internet as a male."

He was like so popular. people helped him and gave him gold and lots of stuff. But he was also annoying. he keept writing <3 <3 after almost each word. "She" got to alot of guys by doing so. Then finally, after 1/2 year or somthin, he got busted. but he destroyed alot boy hearts after lots of guys chatted with "her" (net-sex, feelings talk etc) and HELPED him god knows how much. HE was popular! damn... such a bastard. he even posted fake pics of him(was really a girl that he once had a crush on) We had another real girl in the guild so she NEVER liked him. Guess she somehow knew. but haha, HE got ALOT of /ignores and hate whispers on the server after ppl found out. Never trust a girl in WoW unless you hear her on ventrilo / TS. Finally if you get a girl in the guild, and she speaks on voice, after raiding with +40guys in 1/2year every night, and then hearing her voice, boooy thats like heaven ^^ That doesn't really work if the guy happens to be a good voice actor ^^;; There are software tools to modify a person's voice captured on a mic.

It's like starcraft, do anything you can do win including cheesing, pretending to be a girl is like cheesing, your not doing anything illegal like hacks, but your being gay. My point is, if it helps you get better why not do it? The only thing that i have against it is, i would hate to lie to so many people all the time, especially if i became friends with them.

(heres a bad metaphore) It's like starcraft, do anything you can do win including cheesing, pretending to be a girl is like cheesing, your not doing anything illegal like hacks, but your being gay. My point is, if it helps you get better why not do it? The only thing that i have against it is, i would hate to lie to so many people all the time, especially if i became friends with them. the comparison isn't valid. cheesing is a strategy, or a type of play style. it's not even bad to do, you could base every game around it, but you will eventually lose if you can't adapt to other styles of play. you certainly wont get very far. anyone who has something against cheesing should play NR 20 or something. regardless, cheesing is by no means "gay". let's say you were in the top 10 foreigners and you cheesed every game, and someone suddenly was like "he cheeses every game, I'll play my style based around that". you wouldn't win many games, not that you'd get to the top 10 by cheesing every game. cheesing doesn't help you get better, it allows you to beat players superior to you by not allowing them to use their talents. a good player should expect cheese from someone worse and prepare for it, but if you beat him it just means you played a better 5 minutes or 10 minutes than he did. it's not gonna change your skill, or improve your macro/micro, and he's still gonna be better at you in a 30 minute game. I'll admit that if you beat someone, it almost always means you played better than the person in that game though. what's wrong with it is simple, lying and taking advantage of people is wrong. if you don't find something wrong with that, then maybe nothing is wrong. you will spend your life not being who you are. some people may help you because of the fact you're a girl, but people will you help you anyways if you're a good person with a logical question. if winning is more important than your morals, you may as well just hack. you even know it's the wrong thing to do as you admitted. the truth is, it may help you become a better player, but if you seriously can't see the problems with it, no one is going to be able to tell you why you can't or shouldn't do it.

Pretending to be a girl just to exploit others cock-driven thinking process is kinda similar to promising someone money for the same thing, and not giving him any. Its scamming people. If your moral standards allow that go ahead and do that, I prefer keeping my integrity, even on the internet .

I met several guys pretending to be girls online and they all had some very serious issues. As already mentioned in the thread, you don't have to act much differently at all, a female character/nick will be already enough because a lot of nerds dream of having an sexy and confident online gf they will meet eventually one day. Thus, they want to believe it the truth and will always repress the thought of actually asking "Are you really a girl?" because they know that it could shatter their dreamworld. Even when confronted with hard evidence like a recorded phone call or compromising chatlogs, some really poor guys will always try to find a flaw and won't open their eyes because they either told "her" extremely private things or don't want their constructed reality to come to an end. One time a guy told me that he knows that "she" isn't real but he wants to believe in "her" online persona, fully knowing that "she" is only pretending to be a girl. Most of those people faking to be a girl online are as lonely as the guys they manipulate. It often starts off as a prank, but really quickly they spend more time with their new account when they begin to realize how nice people are to them all of sudden - the same way as you were a famous Starcraft player, for example. When I asked some of those guys why they did it, almost everyone said "It's like an addiction". I think it's similiar to hacking - few can stop when they realize how much better they can play with a hack. As some of those fakers I met are on the border of being social outcasts, they desperately craved the attention and could hardly stop. A new IM and E-mail together with an account like "Zia" and sweet talking is enough to fool a community like tl.net over the course of several years. Of course everyone knew beforehand, but I am afraid that if "Zia" would have been a little bit more cautious, the account would still receive as much attention as it had from the beginning. As a side note, almost every faker I met had problems with his father. I won't interpret anything into it as it might be a coincidence, but the number was very high. People impersonating girls often aren't even very intelligent (due to their ego-boosts they often think it though) and yet even though they actually get people to send them games, gifts and money. One guy I knew would send "her" WC3 TFT where "she" would continue to get into clans and meet new people... The more serious people like Zia are about this, the more refined their ways of interacting with people become - for instance, they would never state their gender as to have a final excuse ("I never told you I were a girl you just assumed it") despite obviously girlish chat or indications. They also will always wait for you to start the dialogue until it's a habit and then ignore you to test your reaction (like real girls sometimes do). If they are at any time not pleased with you, they will ignore you and talk to other people of your guild/clan (again, like a real girl would to make you jealous). Unfortunately, there are a lot of weak minded (or just lonely) people to fall for those kind of tactics, even if it's only online. When they have been made, they either quietly disappear, try to show themselves as some kind of genius mastermind ("YOU ALL FELL FOR IT") or deny everything and threaten to leave and join another guild, what will always call up some people to defend "her". In either way, most of them fix why they had been found out and start anew some weeks later. Though in some extreme cases, they suffer from a total breakdown, when they already have identified themselves too much with their fake persona who no longer is acknowledged. I dare say that if you have an average looking friend/sister (for pics/phone calls/rl meetings), a somewhat believeable background in google and no outrageous claims like being a supermodel or millionaire (hello Zia) one will never find out what gender you actually are. I think it is very easy to fool people over the internet and seriously causes damage when tinkering with their emotions. Just don't do it.
