continuing the trend of learning about tl.net demographics from random surveys, ive now done names and countries, and so im moving on to what logically comes next... passwords. if you have any of these as a password currently, vote for it! if not vote for either not/never using/used, or if youve used one in the past but arent anymore, vote for that option. actually, it's pretty self-explanitory, and i kind of wasted a bit of breath there explaining it to you. or rather, muscular energies, as i didnt actually say what i typed. although i know people who do that. annoying as hell.

Poll: Are you using any of these as a password?
(Vote): password
(Vote): 123456
(Vote): qwerty
(Vote): abc123
(Vote): letmein
(Vote): monkey
(Vote): myspace1
(Vote): password1
(Vote): link182
(Vote): <your first name>
(Vote): used it, but no longer
(Vote): not/never using/used

me? i make new passwords for each account i create, and they always are noted as "strong" or "good" passwords by that meter thing, if anyone knows what im talking about. used to use qwerty though....

EDIT: dont mean for your tl account, LOL. just for an account you may hold, e-mail, facebook, myspace, a gamesite, even your computer.

More and more places forces you to use stronger passwords nowadays (which is quite annoying because it forces many people to write down their passwords, thus reducing the overall security of the system instead of improving it). I'm not voting but none of mine are there.

I use different passwords for everything, usually a word and a couple numbers. Sometimes results in typing in password after password till I get the right one for the thing I want to access

Haha I hate that so much...

If you always use the same one it's very insecure though so it's a toss up...

I always just use a random assortment of letters with numbers jumbled together that are completely meaningless.

I have a master password for anything that comes along (Tl password, Bnet password)

My university stuff is all under the same password, but would be harder to crack than my normal password.

Then I have my banking password which is unique and most ppl would have a real tough time getting.

Ive never used a generic password before. Once however, when I was younger, one of my friends was playing one of those website rpg things. And I figured Id try the login: Flower pass: Power Of course the guy was rediculously powerful and we stole his account.

qweqwe?
or asdfgg (actually, this is how i name files/folders, that i dont intend to keep for long)

And yeah, like 3 master passwords for everything, so if you forget, you'll be sure to enter with a third try =p

Meh... Passwords are meant to provide more security from a botnet brute-forcing your account than from a burglar in your house increasing your post count.

You are stating this as a universal truth.... for most online applications I'm sure your right. I'm thinking more along the lines of computer systems used professionally (such as where I work, this has just become and issue and I brought up the same issue with a couple of coworkers).

I only use strong PWs for Accs I relly care about, like my mailacc or my ftp-account. For others I often use slightly modified similar passwords. And for sites I don't care about at all use pws like my username or asdf.

Haha, this reminds me, I stopped using "1" as a password for my b.net account when my /f l got full on all servers and I realized that losing all those long-term contacts could severely really hurt my gaming experience.
