I'd guess you almost definitely have some malware running. Use some scanners to find out more about it. Unless it's a harmless case, you also should reinstall Windows. Note that some malware can be highly sophisticated, hide itself from scanners etc... if it has full rootkit functionality you won't be able to detect it at all from within the compromised system. You then have to scan your system from a different operating system (Linux Live CD, or scan over the network) in order to find these. It's very unlikely that this is the case but that kind of malware is one of the reasons why scanners shouldn't be trusted blindly. You can still try one more thing: renaming the Firefox profile folder temporarily (so that Firefox will revert to its standard settings, no extensions etc.), then restarting Firefox and trying it again. The profile folder is: c:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxxx.default in XP c:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxxx.default in Vista The "xxxxxxx" means random characters. If it works then, then either you or a malware program has messed with some settings of Firefox (and IE too). In any case, if you do have malware, try to find out what it is and how it installed itself so that you can prevent it the next time. | ||
