Okay so I got into this big thing last night on iRC about laddering. Now the first part is I still can't get around it people somehow expect iCCup admins to not ladder. I join a game and I either get banned immediately or they go "admins ladder?" very rarely they'll just hit go and say gg gl but thats not as common. Yes admins play, no we dont spam for games in the ladder channels because we're not allowed.
Why you ask? We have blue text, think about it and our names all say iCCup. before them except for a select few. This would cause too many issues than we care to deal with, so you may get a whisper from an admin in a ladder channel saying 'game?' you're allowed to say no. Don't think if you say no you'll get banned. But I'd suggest not bming them if you value your ladder health.
Now we're getting into bm on the ladder is it allowed? This is a tricky issue bm consists of several different flavors that I have to divide into to answer that question:
- Disrupting a channel, ie coming into the Tournaments channel while a tournament is running and being disruptive/trolling in order to upset the flow of the tournament. This is likely to get you banned from the Tournaments channel and if you persist other possible penalties may be applied.
- Avoiding a loss, this one is listed in the ladder rules, running around building extra pylons or lifting off to a hidden point in the map trying to avoid a loss when you are basically eliminated is against the rules:
CLARIFICATION I watched an amazing VOD of nal_ra the other day where they were doing a base race ie both of them were destroying the others main in pvz. Nal_Ra loaded up a probe and made extra pylons so that he could eliminate his opponent without losing. The reason this is allowed is becuase he was still in the game with a decent sized army and neither of them wanted to risk a head on confrontation.
- Being an ass, like it or not if someone is in the game being an ass insutling you and just as I said being an ass if you report this to an admin they will 9 times out of 10 tell you to /ignore them. Basically this comes down to common sense.

Good blog, I understand where people wouldn't play with admins. Maybe if they allow it, a smurf account?
Probably not the best thing to say to an admin, but just a suggestion

Oh most admins will play on a smurf account or another account but some of us myself included like to just play on our admin account without having to switch back and forth

I think using another account without the iccup prefix is better, because it clearly shows when the admin is "on duty", and when he is just a normal player. But I also have no problem playing an admin.
We had similar problems with out browsergame. We were often accused of favouring our on allies. But the funniest thing was, when I was accused by my allies of being extra severe on them^^

I know I've played at least 2-3 games with admins

Raelcun what is the determining factor on BM complaints and stuff. I have seen people get banned for saying "Fuck you" alone.
Other times admins just say "it isn't a problem. just ignore it".
It seems like there isn't a lot of consistency with admin decisions in this area.

I have never seen an admin join my game, but if I did I would be glad to play. Why wouldn't people play against admins? I would trust an admin more than a random pubbie.

If people dodge you too much, why don't all the admins get smurf accounts? Just post up a news post saying that basically there were too many dodgers so all the admins smurf now. Or just throw it up secretly; none of you admins are playing with money on the line are you?

Thats part of why I'm posting this, some people will get banned if they're a consistant problem with a ton of complaints against them but most of the time its a 1 time thing someones angry that they lost and say something bm and the person complains and the admin just tells them to /ignore. Actual banning for bm is very rare if someone is a big problem they might get penalized or after many offenses maybe reset they have to try VERY hard to get banned for saying "fuck you" alone. THere were other things going on most likely

Like I said most admins use another account to play but the thing is I'm not getting dodged too much just trying to work against a general disbelief that admins play.

Seriously though it's nice to see that admins also play the game, but i think that people believe admins have more skills for just being admins and that is why you get banned from games. Go smurf lol

Oh yea. I figured out its best to save yoru complaints until you rank up a bit.
Getting a +130 is much better at like C ranks than D ranks cuz its harder to rank up there.

Ive had admins join games ive hosted b4 and i really didnt care at all, i treat them like any other player who join. I just want good games on iccup. Chances of an admin pulling some bm stuff is a lot slimmer than your average iccup D/D+ player doing it.
Heres an idea, start up an admin gamers channel, maybe it become popular place for ppl to look for good games.

Understandable.
If i could host I probably would have had an admin join my game by now, and for sure I would have been confused.
