Scenario: Two people are madly in love and willing to do anything and everything for each other, the ideal couple. However, they later find out that they are related by either the same father (different mother), or vice versa. It is unlikely any biological defects will effect their baby. They did not grow up together and met as strangers. Upon finding out the truth of their relationship, the couple is repulsed and separates.
Thought: Society has such strong influences on people that can even break the perfect couple. There is no doubt their love was strong, but since they were half brothers and sisters, the relationship is seen as "gross" and taboo. The formal argument, I think, is the preservation of human evolution, since incest will produce defected babies. However, they do not experience anything a "regular" brother and sister would have. Imagine if they offspring garuntees to be normal, is it acceptable for them to be together? Imagine if you found out your partner was related in the same way, what reason would drive you into breaking off the relationship?
