There was an vote. The southern provinces were predominantly Irish and voted to become Irish. They were allowed to do so. The northern provinces were predominantly British and voted to remain British. The IRA represented an undemocratic minority group who wanted to use violence to force the majority away from their democratic rights. They are indefensible. If I went to Dublin and started bombing it to defend the rights of the minority of British who found themselves in Ireland you'd think I was mad. The IRA are no different. | ||
