Yup. For the most part, if you see a Mario stage you dont recognize, its likely to be one of many Mario hacks (thats what they call custom edits) out there, such as Asshole Mario.

Game was done to match the music, obviously. It being a coincidence is highly unlikely. And this, like all other automatic Marios, is done through hours upon hours of painstaking trial and error by devoted people overseas.
But I guess it was at least done with either some macroing program like auto-it or at least by constant save/load on emulator right? If it's done 100% manually then THAT is painful lol
Wow really amazing video. I didn't know it was playing different songs until I heard one that sounded vaguely familiar, then it all became clear what it was about.
On the youtube comments it looks like there's a tracklist, maybe someone could translate? Some of these were definitely in there.

haha yea I watched this yesterday when it was uploaded. Has 400,000 views in one day so far on nico-video. I was going to make a thread about it with the background of the original video and the fads for each one of these 33 songs (since they basically all have an "internet craze" associated with them in one way or another) but now that it's already made I guess such a thread wouldn't have much utility (and I'm lazy and now I can use this as an excuse to not do the research)

edit: it took the creator 6 months to make. He started making it after the first "kumikyoku" got to 200,000 views. (started on Nov. 3rd 2007)
A lot of these songs were uploaded as full auto mario as single songs, but this is the first one of the entire mix of songs.
