Trying to remember a movie

When I was 7, I saw a 1990's/1980'ish science-fiction movie. I can't remember its name or too much details of it except some few scenes. But it involved a bunch of men who's military ship gets wrecked in the ocean and they escape by a inflatable raft. While on it, they float around on the ocean for days and weeks, until they stumble on an dense-forested island. The island seems normal with its residents until they realize something is strange. They discover the island is inhabited by ape-like humans whom are very similar to humans in custom and behavior, similar clothing, with their sophistication but are more ferocious and feral. (This is not planet of the apes), the Island also has some human residents as well. The only scenes I can remember is that once the sailors try to assimilate in this society they see this huge big lady carried by servants with a complete white-face and in-human like body, (turns out she isn't exactly human) She also seems to be the leader of this island but gets killed by the apes. The sailors (two of them I think) befriend this mutant vampire-like girl who is also a strange , but the most human like compared to the other residents, infact she looks so human that she fools the men or boatmen into thinking she is a human. The girl establishes a close somewhat romantic relationship with one of the men. The apes also posses modern day weaponry which was smuggled to them and also modern customs and jobs as well (barbers, ape prostitutes etc). I can't remember anything else but I know it was a good movie. The primary antagonist is an ape rebel or fighter. All I can remember from the end scene is that the boatmen leave the island while an ape barber cuts and shaves the hair of a well-dressed ape. I'm trying really hard but I have failed to remember the name of this movie.

Sound familiar to anyone? Could someone please tell me the title of the movie?

I was trying to find it based ont he information you provided and ran into "Attack of the Beast Creatures". I was going to suggest it as a possibility until I saw this clip...

You didn't mention the apes were tiny, so this probably isn't it. Hilarious though!

Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it greatly!!! But still has anyone managed to find anything?

BTW the apes were man-sized, all looked same (same species) and were about the height of modern humans in similar size and proportions.

Danger Island, maybe?

From looking at that it can't be it, because the protagonist was bald and very Caucasion, and the female lead actress (IE Vampire Girl) had really dark black hair.

And I remember very clearly that were primarily apes but not generic monsters.

Reminds me of the Island of Dr. Monreo or w/e but its not from your description since they werent all ape creatures but a mix of animals controlled by the man who made them. Maybe it was one of the earlier versions of this movie? There have been a few like the island of lost souls.

oh, Moreau? with Marlon Brando and Vil Kilmer? I liked that movie

yeah it's one of my top ten favorite movies, and if you were describing the island of dr. moreau, you did a terrible job cause none of that stuff happens in it
