Snet, there are educated people who do truly prefer blue collar work. I work an office job, but the kinds of things I've enjoyed the most are more physical. People say they want their work to be mentally stimulating. Office work may require you to think a little bit (not as much as people might like to believe, though), but the ways it makes me think are completely unappealing.

I am a pretty cerebral fellow, but I like my work to be fairly thoughtless, and more physical than office work. The only exception would be if it was work I was truly passionate about... but good luck finding that.

And even if I could make decent money playing guitar 8 hours a day, I don't think I'd want to. Come to think of it, I don't think there is ANYTHING I'd want to do 8 hours a day. So I might as well have an easy job!

College is probably a good choice for some people - particularly those who have a good idea what they want to do with themselves and need a degree to get there. But people are increasingly brainwashed into thinking college is essential to a good life. It simply is not.

It's not really brainwashed, people just know a college degree will help you get higher paying jobs, and it does.

Btw, I was only joking about 100 degree weather working a forklift, you can easily work in an air conditioned retail store if you want.

Sighs. This guy fails to understand the fact that college is Not necessary to be financially successful. There are plenty of peolpe who, without a diploma, have became successful.

For example.. Bill Gates. Ever heard of him? yeah, he dropped out and look at him now.

The average college graduate is more sucessful. Do you base your life on averages or margins? Getting a degree is the safe play, who is to say you can't follow your dreams after you have a degree to fall back on?

I know and good point chill. I guess some people like to take risks.. the biggest being, I say, football/ball/etc players who leave college early to play in the NFL/NBA/etc. Too much risk there I mean who knows if bam you get injuried the first snap and then you're screwed.

Patience can be a key to a secure future.
