I have a friend that became interested in BroodWar after the announcement of Starcraft2. I was more than happy to play with him. He has WarCraft3 experience so his micro and handspeed is pretty decent, and I've been helping him get used to macro and build orders so that he can catch up and start beating me.
In the last few weeks he's appeared to get much better, grasping concepts of aggression and harrass much quicker than your average noob (including myself). I've been very happy to see this improvement. Where I used to win every game, we're now almost trading games (I still have a slight edge).
However, today while looking at our last game in BWChart I noticed the odd shape of his resources chart:
I went back and looked at all of our games this month, and after the first two we played, all of his resource charts looked like the image above (amazing mineral and unit growth in the first 30 seconds of each game). I looked at my other ZvT's this month and none of my opponent's resource charts resemble this. If this is a bug in BWChart, it's odd that it's specific to my friend.
Remembering that the last 6-7 games we've played he's avoided expanding, opting instead to build up and try to take me out early-game, I started to suspect maybe a mineral hack, so I watched a replay or two and nothing is obviously odd. When I click on a building, he doesn't have 7k minerals, and things appear to be being built as he can afford it, though I haven't scrutinized that too much (been watching at x2 speed).
So TL.netters! Have you seen resource charts like this before? If so, does it indicate the use of mineral hack, or is it just a peculiar bug? If you've ever used mineral hack, do your resource charts look like this in BWChart?
If it's a bug that'd be a relief because it'd mean my friend is getting better. If it's a hack I wanna call him on it. Maphack might have some instructive value, but mineral hack definitely doesn't.

I've never seen a jump like that. Replays are really the only things that will help us decide though.

It happens to your friend every game? Does he have a theory on why it happens? Thanks, Hittegods! Relieved that its a bug.

the stats are bugged... that's what this blog is about.... 
He does have faster hands, though. Some day soon he'll eclipse me if I don't manage to improve.
Edit: the bug looks like it adds 100 supply and units and 7000 minerals to his chart.
