THE ART PAST
This year marks the 10th year as a TL.net staff member and I am proud to look back at a whole bunch of wonderful visual art pieces and memories.
Thank you Disciple , IntotheWow and ultimately Nazgul for allowing me to join the fun back in my bloodiest rookie days.
I Appreciate you guys for the trust and for giving me motivation to actually learn how to be good at Photoshop and visual design - reinventing myself from advertising into animated film and visual development for animation.
It was back in that foggy year of 2011, thank you Ponytales magazine for letting me help.
Here a by no means complete collage of some of my TL collaborations over the last decade. There is much more but sometimes hard drives just fade away and lots have fallen into oblivion.
I am super excited after having created TSL 4-5-6 intros and visual IDs to gear up making TSL 7 and 8 (?) as well now
THE FUTURE ART
I am also blogging after a good while on TL time because I feel for us artists something new has opened up, a new possible democratization of art allowing people like me who never ever worked traditionally to create unique digital originals that can be purchased, sold and collected. A possible new appreciation of digital art, much malignant by fine art galleries and collectors of the past.
I am talking about NFT artworks and everything related to it.
Now, the NFT subject for better or worse is nuanced and complex and I don't want to go into the weeds of it’s merits or legit issues right now, yet I am confident we will work around this navigation problem eventually.
It's a very imperfect mechanic but I feel this is the time to experiment , learn from and course correct as we go.
This is relevant with what maybe my next 10 years creating artwork with TL will be as it’s undeniable that it will allow for important new opportunities for the game/gaming world. I am more than excited to see this play out and how TL will find sustainable ways to embrace these new ever changing tools. Purely as a TL fan I would be excited for digital collectables that represent TL its achievements and values. Lets see where this goes and how platforms will be able to support it.
While this is still in its beginnings , I want to learn and experiment with NFT with my first personal art NFT drop on Foundation.app/lipcomarella
here 3 examples of my series of 9
It is a very meaningful animated art series to me that with a touch of irony and tongue in cheek features the dark corners of our internet landscape and its never ending source of outrage. It’s called “ Internet Dystopia”: a stark contrast to the respectful and passionate Internet culture and people I could experience and enjoy here on TL.net
I enjoy this series both stylistically and conceptually as it marked a major turning point in my career so it will be an interesting experiment seeing it "inserted" into the Blockchain and explore the media further.
Onward TL
