WishfulThinking
1 Post
First of all, I want to say a sincere thank you for your posts. While not for reasons you'd think, but it compelled me to look at my life and rethink a few of my goals, habits, and other personal stuff. At the very least, the time you spent on internet was important to me, so thank you. In return for that, I'm writing this post. Long story short, from someone who kinda had been on the same boat, you have schizophrenia. I don't actually have a problem with most of the symptoms that are associated with it, like voices or even the broken thinking patterns. Honestly - whatever, not my business. My concern is that you *are* unhappy, *were* unhappy, and *will be* unhappy, unless you take some very certain actions. Of which there are three main ones which have to be done in the exact order I write them: 1. Go to the psychiatrist, tell him your story, get the meds. As soon as possible, highest priority over everything. 2. After that (*after*, not instead), you'll need psychotherapy to fix the problems in your life that cause you to drop back to your old ways of thinking. 3. You'll need to work on those problems together with your doctor and start changing your life slowly for the better. Specifically you will, at the very least, need to work on relationships and on getting a job that would make you a worthwhile part of humanity in your own eyes. Doesn't matter if the job is sweeping the streets even, it can be anything that you could feel proud of yourself for doing. Those three steps are ~3-5 years, and it's not as long as it looks. If you start going through with it right now, when you are all set for your future, you would still be a bit younger than me currently. So you have time for now, but every year in your condition will worsen your chances for a happy life significantly. I doubt you'll hear my advice though. Right now when you try to think about stuff, it's the same as if you would try to use broken legs to walk. It doesn't work correctly, the results are wrong. It seems correct to you, understandably, because you are trying to use the same broken instrument to solve the problem, which continues to produce wrong solutions. If I was able to get through to you, here is what you do next: stop thinking (or assigning importance to the results of your thinking) and follow the exact list I gave you. It's a matter of trust, I suppose. All I can say in my defense is that I've been in your shoes, and I know exactly how you feel currently. Anyway, I have my scepticism about you listening to my advice, but I hope you'll prove me wrong. Live happy. Side note: I decided against making this PM, because the author has the same tendency for emotional exhibitionism and posturing as I do, which is clearly shown by the things he wrote both there and on reddit. He gets off on attention the same way I would in his place. Furthermore, I'm not the first one (not even remotely close) to tell him what is actually happening to him. Also, who knows, maybe this post will somehow be useful for someone else who got there by accident, like I did? | ||
