My buddy and I (both working in non-music fields) have been trying to get back into producing / writing music. It's hard to stay on track when you get home from work tired and just want to relax with some nice video games or watch some ASL. Somehow we decided to both not play any video games for a week and focus on actually outputting some tunes.

Well the week is over and I've got this guy to show for it:

I'm quite happy with how it turned out. Been experimenting with more synth/electronic stuff for the last year or so but returned back to more neoclassical roots with this piece. Tell me what you guys think

And now that the gaming has begun again, I would like to say that if anyone is on the fence for A Hat in Time, it's really fuckin good. Brings back memories of the gamecube golden age.

The overall composition is quite impressive; every sound blends into the texture very well and nothing really sticks out in a bad way. It really has that "main character's home town in an RPG" kind of feel to it. What key is it written in?

The starting key is A major, moves up to B major 1/3 of the way in and then D major at 2/3. In each key I'm mostly using a I7 vi7 ii7 V7 iii7 VI7 iim7 V7 chord progression for the base melody, occasionally leaving out the sevenths.

Nice music dude, it's obvious you have good taste in harmony.

I'd like to see a more variation in the piano hook, but this is just my preference.
