Teamliquid’s Mizenhauer sat down with Durn, champion of the recently completed Live Report Summer League, to get his thoughts on stuff that doesn’t really matter.
First off, why don’t you introduce yourself.
Hello, I’m Durn, a shitposter from the TL forums. I play random and study medicine.
So, you managed to take down the LRSL. What does such a titanic victory mean to you?
I was taking it a lot more seriously than I expected, actually. I really wanted to win, especially because Luolis said that if he got through Wire, he believed he could win the whole tournament, so I wanted to prove him wrong.
And you played random all the way though. To you, what does it mean to be a random player?
It means I’m one of the only persons that actually gets to balance whine ?

Contrary to what one might assume, you’re not at all a cheeser. You’re actually a really solid macro players with each race. If you had to choose one, which player from each race do you try to emulate.
For Terran, I usually copy INnoVation, though I also tried (unsuccessfully) to copy GuMiho’s mech. For Zerg, it is definitely Dark, and a little bit of soO for ZvZ. Finally, for Protoss, it used to be Rain and PartinG, but these days it’s mostly Stats.
The elephant in the room had to be your peculiar luck when it came to rolling races. You got Luolis’ worst matchup three times in the swiss, Olli’s twice and when we played you got the race I least wanted to play on each map. I wrote a story jokingly saying you pledged your loyalty to a shadowy covenant, but I think everyone wants to know the real reason it worked out that way.
This happens on ladder too. I play mostly small ladder sessions, like 3-5 games usually, and very often I’ll find myself playing the same race at least ⅘ times. It just happened to be their worst matchup. To be fair, I felt a lot more confident in TvP than ZvP against Olli, so I didn’t get the best luck possible. I have no excuse for Luolis though, I wasn’t ready for ZvT at the time despite knowing his build, and TvT has always been tough for me.
So, no pagan rituals or something similar involved then?
Nothing of the sort, no.
Let’s talk about the finals. How did you feel going into the match?
I felt very confident, because Luolis is very predictable, though I quickly realised I shouldn’t have been.
Luolis was very confident in his play versus Zerg, but things didn’t really go that way in the match. Walk me through your feelings as the match progressed.
The first game went very poorly despite my preparation, though I mostly blame it on my sickness (at the time) and the fact that it was the first game. ZvT especially was something I prepared for, so I was really looking forward to playing, and it worked out as expected. I just wish I had put more time into preparing my PvT, as it went somewhat poorly considering it’s Luolis’ worst matchup. I probably should have played less greedy. For ZvT, I had prepared for both a macro game and an all-in, and it worked out perfectly. Before the last game, as it was 3-3, I was really hoping for a ZvT, and my luck struck again. The all-in worked perfectly, though he did change his usual build a little bit.
And what do you think is currently your strongest race?
It’s probably Terran at the moment, with TvP my strongest matchup there. I dislike TvT a lot, but I still do well in it, better than ZvZ especially.
Now that the LRSL is done, we’ve managed to cobble together a team league. You’ve drafted your team, what do you think of it?
I’m very happy about it. I wanted to draft a team similar to LPLR (Lickipiddy + Live Report) when we played in the Wardi Team League, and I managed to do it. I couldn’t get Seeker unfortunately, but otherwise all the players are there !
Korean Terrans are just really in high demand, aren’t they?
They are ! Maybe I should have gotten a good one like INnoVation since you managed to snap soO for yourself

And what about Cricketer’s, Golo’s and my team?
I really like how the rosters turned out. They don’t seem particularly imbalanced, despite the presence of a GM (Railgan) and soO, especially considering it’s Proleague format. Golo’s team seems like the strongest in such a format, but only by a small margin.
Where do you see your team finishing when this is all said and done?
I think we can win it, but I’m not extremely confident, especially since I will try to make everyone play, even the weaker players like Opisska (interviewers note: You heard him Opisska, don’t fuck this up for everyone!). I don’t want to be a tyrant like the KT coach, only sending TY/Zest/Stats/Flash.
Rank the these casters from best to worst, EJ, Mizenhauer, Gumba.
Mizenhauer > Ej > Gumba. Gumba trashtalks a lot, and it’s fun, but he’s like Rapid, you can’t listen to him too much.
Who would you say is the best shit talker in the LRTL?
I guess it’s Luolis ? We really don’t have that many shit talkers actually. I would tell everyone to step up their games, but I’m not any better.
The worst?
Seeker probably. He’s too nice. We also have Elentos, since he’s trying his best to emulate TY.
Gyuri or Hyunkyung? And why is it Hyunkyung?
Gyuri is cute, but Hyunkyung is prettier. It’s a tough choice, but I think I’ll go with Hyunkyung. I also prefer SSL to GSL, so it’s a bonus.
This is getting incredibly far afield and rather self indulgent, so let’s bring things to a close with Lichter’s famous pirate question, but with a twist… Pirates have captured your family and loved ones and you have to rescue them with the help of three LRTL participants. Who are you choosing and why?
I’ll go with Ej first because he has those sick polish zergs strategies. Then, in the hopes that PirateTerran is the one that captured my parents, I’d take Seeker as a translator. And the last one would be… Elentos maybe ? I don’t know what he would do but I’m sure he would be useful. In the end, I’d take the LPLR guys, just like in LRTL.
Thanks for talking to me today!
No problem <3 thanks for the interview.

LRTL Week One Preview
And with that, LRSL comes to a close. But fear not shit posters, for the newest iteration of the much beloved event is already starting, this time with a new twist. For the first time ever Live Report will attempt a proper team league. Guided by Ej’s patient hand, the Live Report Team League or LRTL features all manner of shit posters, writers, staff and, for some strange reason, a six time GSL finalist?!? For the rules visit, http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-tournaments/526573-lrtl-live-report-team-league. Proleague format, a wonky map pool and a playoffs somewhere don’t the road? This is one that can’t be missed. So tune in and buckle up for what is sure to be a rocky ride.
Week one opens up with a matchup between Mizenhauer’s team, Twice Liquid and Durn’s side, Totally not LPLR.

Set 1: Mizenhauer claims to be unbeatable on this map, but Ej is well aware of the type of builds he has prepared. Durn wouldn’t have sent Ej out if he weren’t confident. Beyond the players, the most important of Set 1 is the map. Incubation was already a shit show, but transforming it into an all gold nuthouse has only made things crazier. Expect something strange from both parties in this, the first game of the league.
Set 2: There’s only one question to be asked heading into this encounter: is 70% handicap enough? Glgl Elentos.
Set 3: Undoubtedly the highlight of the week. LRSL finalists, Luolis and Durn reunite on Pandora for some good old fashioned PvT. Luolis hates Protoss with a fiery passion, but fared surprisingly well against the race in the finals (which he still lost). This match could very well be repeated in the ace match as soO needs to go to bed to play in tournaments that actually matter.
Set 4: Argonauta was supposed to get a break this week, but Olli ducked out, leaving his most active writer high and dry once more (please don’t fire me). Enter the Spanish Zerg, who will play the second ZvZ of the day against Kashim. The Pole will be looking to get his LRTL campaign off to a positive start after a disappointing close to LRSL. He appears to be the favorite in the match, however, and could find himself in prime position to send things to an ace match.
Prediction:
The second match of the week:
Facing off in the second match of the week is S T A T S B O Y S which is hereby renamed Korean Terrans and Randoms vs DJ and Dinosaurs. In what has become a cold war-esque arms race, Crickter has procured the services of GuMiho. grumble mumble, something about this is why he picked Seeker. Eiether way he'll be going up against the most balanced team in the league. We'll just have to see if depth can overcome Cricketer's pair of GM's.

Set 1: Next
Set 2: A solid beatdown is in the cards for Seeker, who just couldn't let sleeping dogs lie. Inviting GuMiho has exponentially increased the prestige of the event, but in return, you're not going to win a single game.
Set 3: I'll be playing the blackpink as viper goes up in flames against a Terran who won't have any patience for Viper's lurker drops.
Set 4: This could actually be a decent game. No one knows exactly how good DJHelium is, but the consensus is that he was once more than decent. Railgan was the original best player in this event and will be looking to prove that title was a deserved one.
Prediction:

There you have it, our week one matches. Make sure to tune in at 17:00 CEST/11:00 East Coast/9:00 Setguitarstogarbagetime/Midnight in the mecca of esports.
