Hey there! I am traveling full time since 2014 and would like to share my experiences on how to travel cheaply, hope this is the right place to put this and some might find it interesting

The most common question I get while traveling full time is: “How are you able to afford this?” This post will hopefully provide you with some answers 🙂 You will also find out which region in the world has been the cheapest so far in terms of Food costs after 587 days of traveling and spending roughly 30€ per day on average.

How to travel on a Budget and current cost statistics

If you are interested to check it out, just click on the link

Cheers,
Chris

Very interesting tips! I will probably surf around your blog to see more details about your transport technics that you used.

Next May, I'm travelling to Germany and Poland for 3 weeks. So far, most of my activities are identified and the most important remaining thing to do is to organize my transport between cities. I will probably start in Munich and go north and then go east to Poland. Do you have any lessons learned for transportation in Germany/Poland?

I'd start with Deutsche Bahn (the german railroad network): https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml

You can book and print their tickets in advance if you like to be organised.
I think esports is pretty nice.

Railroad is pretty expensive in germany, unless you buy your tickts way in advance. Then you get them for 19 €.

Hitch hiking is not recommended here, because there are simply so many destinations it's quite unlikely someone wants to go where you want. Also people are quite wary of hitch hikers and generally think you will rape them. :-(

A fun way to travel and meet people is https://www.blablacar.de/ where you can register and then look for people who are going your way. It's also quite cheap. I have to admin though that was 1 year ago. I don't know what it's like now. I don't know if this english page is actually the same organisation: https://www.blablacar.com/

A very reliant and cheap way of travelling is https://www.flixbus.com/ just some connections are really slow if you want to travel to the south west of germany from munich, which I assume, you won't, since you are headed in poland.

There is always the option to book a flight, of course. I don't know any german specifics about that.

Have fun travelling germany and make sure to write a blog on TL how it went!

I used blablacar once, a few years ago. I was going from Germany to Poland. Didn't work so great, since I didn't speak either German or Polish. Everything ended up working out, but only because I got a Polish speaking friend to call the ppl listed for me.

It was very cheap, I think I paid 10 Euros for 2 ppl, the drive took about 3 hours. Overall, I would do it again (provided I could get it to work) especially if price is a major consideration.

Flixbus seems to becomee pretty expensive now, they used to match blablacar prices but i think now they started to actually make money haha.

Have you ever traveled to Italy? My parents' dream is to vacation in Italy, so just wondering what you learned when you traveled there in terms of how you kept costs low, Also, which part(s) of Italy did you go to and did you find that traveling in one part cost-wise was completely different from another part?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Ive recently been there and well, Italy is more expensive in terms of food and all areas I have been to are relatively equal.

If by that you mean the first post, any TL mod can make the post editable if you request it. Try the ask tl staff anything thread or just PM one.
