turned out my meniscus had a much larger tear than the mri indicated so instead of just having it shaved i had reconstruction, he also did knee microfracture surgery to try and aid the acl and strengthen it. (i was only told this was happening/had happened post op so afaik this involves drilling small holes into the knee in order to generate scar tissue).

sadly the fact the operation was much more serious than expected meant i now cant walk or even put pressure on my right leg for three weeks and total recovery is going to be much longer than the previous 8-9 weeks that i was hoping for. because of this im probably going to miss national dryslope championships which i was hoping to win/take podium, i got 4th in slopestyle, 8th in big air last year (my boots broke before dropping in so i had to do big air finals with loose boots).
promising result though, should mean longer term im ok to start competing again and i can hopefully place well in next year's indoor and alpine championships
side effect is im going to miss SCR11 and Kickstart 10 which were some big uk melee tournametns i was planning on going to, worth it in the long run though
targe out
tldr i had surgery and it was more serious than expected
shoutouts to irc, gosis mom and my surgeon for doing a sick job
