I have three accounts on Fish. One for ladder, one for clan practice, and one for melee practice so I don't get kicked out of ladder losing to stupid shit by trying new things. I've recently noticed that I can beat most of my fellow clan members who have much higher win rates than me for melee. To put it in perspective, I'm E on ladder and lose 왕초보 (king noob, the lowest of the low) melee games.
I thought nothing of this, but the clan leader decided to talk to me about this because my PoV% for melee was, like, 15%. It was horrible and being E it should not be that low. I told him that most of the lobbies I host I just go with the first people that join, and it was already a bad sign to him. He asked me what kind of people I play, and I mentioned they're usually new accounts with names so random I can't even check the stats on the account because they would leave before I could even type out half of their name.
He showed me that wDetector has a feature where you press Alt+(player slot # on numpad) to immediately check their stats in the lobby. As it turns out, nearly everybody I played was a hardcore smurf and this is extremely common on Fish. I knew smurfs were a thing, but I guess they're super duper common on Fish. He said to ban anybody with 0-0-0 PoV or with a crazy high win rate, and I took his advice.
Woe and behold I'm actually better than most casual players on Fish, and I was too stupid to check the profiles of people in my lobby. Turns out Fish isn't as brutal as everybody makes it out to be, we as foreigners just don't understand all the features and problems Fish has, including the alt numpad stat checker made specifically because of the smurfing problem.
Next time you hop on Fish, try this out. You'll have a lot more fun and now I don't feel like an idiot for losing twenty times as many games as I've won.

5/5 for venturing into your doom that is fish server.

I think foreigners severely overestimate the skill of Fish. While the general skill is higher, the bottom of the barrel is even lower than iCCup just because there are so many players.
With BW shooting back up in Korea rapidly, now is a better time than ever to hop on. You'll find plenty of people at your level even if you're D- on iCCup, and with practice you'll be in the ladder before you know it.

I don't know why, but this thread really makes me wanna try out BW. I didn't buy LotV and I'm getting the crave for some RTS again :D

I'd play on Fish more if I could actually communicate with other people. It'd be nice if there were some clans set up where non koreans could join in as well to meet people, even if it is with Koreans. It's just so lonely on Fish when you have no idea what to read or where to go.
Getting kicked out of every game doesn't help due to not having the maps. :/

I was part of a clan without being amazing, and people were really nice, obsing games and giving tips and playing practice games. I think if you're honest about not speaking Korean, some people won't want to play with you, but someone will get interested and want to play a lot.

A and B are still good on iCCup don't get me wrong, Fish is just on a whole new level when you get to those rankings.
