So I have a strong background in music, did 1.5 years of conservatory before I figured out I had a lot of passion (that was waning), a lot of memorization power and analytical ability, but no talent (at least not compared to my peers).
All music I hear, I remember. I can scat jazz solo's I've not heard in years. A 50 minute classical piece, no problem. One it starts, I know what it is and what notes are next, if I have heard it before. When I hear a melody, I also hear all melodies that are similar that I have heard before, until it deviates.
There's this one melody I hear in music often, but I could never recall what it was. I remember doing a search, trying to find where I had heard it, but no avail.
Today, I heard it again. I remembered I failed to recall it in the past. And I even remembered what it was! Twice! But that can't be right. I have a false memory?, Or, so I thought.
I don't quite get it. There are 3 somewhat similar notes that are played twice in both songs but everything else seems extremely different. Maybe my ears don't pick up on these things, I have 0 formal music training. Or anything really.
I spotted a couple recently. Watching tv this advert came on: + Show Spoiler +
And I recognised the tune from the first 10 seconds was from the computer game Giants Citizen Kabuto. Well, thats where I recognised it from anyway. Im not sure if thats the original source, probably not. But it was pretty surprising. NSFW youtube pic + Show Spoiler +
