Add to the list
-Portos (cuban bakery in Glendale/Burbank)
-Tsujita (Japanese dipping noodles in Sawtelle)
-Tsujita Annex (The fattiest richest ramen in LA, also in Sawtelle)
-The Hat (Pastrami sandwiches, theres a bunch of locations)
-Boca Del Rio (janky looking taco stand in Hacienda Heights, stupidly large portions for cheap)

for the best mexican food, go to the City of Industry/Hacienda Heights area,
chinese/TW/HK food go to SGV,
for good pho go to Westminster (or if thats too far Rosemead/El Monte/SGV)

Let me know if you have more food questions, and whoever told you to go to cheesecake factory just used a cop-out answer.

Had Chipotle, was terrible.

I'm waiting til I get a phone to start going to restaurants, I have to uber everywhere; so it gets a bit pricy.

you are in los angeles. there are 100000000000000000000000000000000x better places to eat than the ones you listed.

my pick for la starter would be Langar's pastrami sandwiches

JEWISH DELI?

For me, it's about proximity and time. Is it near Sherman Oaks/Burbank?

Langer's is in downtown LA (so not close to you). Langers and Phillipes are the most recommended/well-known delis in LA probably. Langer's is known for their pastrami, Phillipe for their french dipped beef sandwiches.

Honestly though for Sherman Oaks, anything down Ventura Blvd will be good if you want a restaurant but for something a little more unique to the area, I would suggest to try out Versailles (Cuban food).

In case you didn't know there is also a subway entrance in North Hollywood ( in between Burbank and Sherman Oaks on Lankershim) and it will put you in downtown LA or other areas much faster than driving most of the time.

Probably not, but I'm having a blast with Uber. I have never felt such a joy and fun in meeting drivers who come from so many backgrounds and just love having a general conversation about anything and everything.

I met a sociologist who works on getting gangsters back into cars
I met a world-traveler who recently converted to Judiasm and is getting a lot of hate from her family
I met a Jazz musician who is also an Aerospace corporate headhunter, right now business is slow and companies are shifting new hirees around: "talent manipulation" he calls it.

I've met so many awesome and nice people and they are just so fun to talk to; they take an interest in me, I take an interest in them and it ends when the ride stops. I don't know why, but I just absolutely love it. We talked Jazz, we talked weather, we talked our businesses and sectors, start-ups. Trends, etc.

There's so much more stuff to eat and explore there since the city is so huge. Yelp is pretty good at pinpointing you in the right direction, and there are a ton of neighborhoods with good food (make a decent effort to avoid the bad neighborhoods btw lol).

Also, GL with the traffic lol

Gonna add to the list:
Daikokuya in Little Tokyo for ramen
Marugame Monzo for udon - the uni (sea urchin) udon is awesome
Honda Ya Izakaya and Musha - Izakaya (Japanese style tapas)
Gaja - Okonomiyaki
Tasty Garden is a good HongKong-style cafe
Boiling Point for Taiwanese style hotpot (you can smell the stinky tofu, hope you're adventurous)
Ham Ji Park for Korean bbq (pork dishes are their specialty including bbq and gam ja tang)
Mirak for Korean black goat stew
Ttu Rak for Galbi Jim (Korean hotpot/beef stew)
Ahgassi Gopchang and Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong for Korean bbq
Raffi's Place for Persian
Habit Burgers for a good burger chain
Boiling Crab for Vietnamese Cajun seafood
Saladang for Thai
Daw Yee Myanmar Cafe and Yoma Myanmar for Burmese

Just Yelp some random Mexican or Pho places. I'm currently forgetting the name of specific ones.

Pricier options include Malbec for Argentinian and Fogo de Chao for Brazilian.

And if you're going to Mama Lu's for dumplings, the original location near the corner of Garvey and Garfield is much better than the newer one a few blocks away.
