Europe Travel blog!: Part One

PassiveAce United States18076 Posts July 23 2015 15:43 GMT #1 Special thanks: Targe, BurningSera Writing this on the train from London to Paris. Just completed the first leg of the journey! My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time in London. In no small part due to suggestions and help from a couple TLers We landed in the early hours of the 18th at Heathrow and made our way to our hostel in south London. The first day we just relaxed at our hostel to sweat out the previous day of travel and to take the time to sort out what we wanted to do while we were in the city and how we were going to go about it. We decided to spend the first day sightseeing around central London, just walking around exploring. Since this is our first time in the city we had a wonderful time simply looking the gorgeous old architecture of parliament, Big Ben, etc. We got some good pictures but not as much as we should have perhaps. But then, I didn't come to Europe to look at buildings the whole time :p. On the 20th we spent the day walking around south London enjoying the lovely view of central london looking north on the hill. From this view we could see all of the business district and its magnificent structures. Especially one that was notable for its similarities to an uncut penis. Maybe I'm just imagining things but you can be the judge. The night of the 20th we went to a underground (literally) club located in the industrial district called "Fabric" that was playing live techno. My girlfriend wound up hitting it off with a nice local girl that took the time to hang out with us after. We also managed to get hooked up with a certain substance that you might expect to be circulating at a club with brightly colored lights and loud techno . We wound up leaving the club and taking a bus back to our hostel absolutely exhausted at around 4 am. We had a incredible night overall Special thanks to BurningSera for taking the time to suggest the club to us! The day and night of the 21st was spent recovering from the previous night and early morning :p. Although it was somewhat of a wasted day, I did learn something about my limits haha. On the 22nd, we met up with Targe, who had come a fairly long way down to hang out with us. Starting in hackney at around 5 pm, we walked to the center business district (toward aforementioned uncut penis) barhopping along the way. Once again having a lovely time getting to know someone I had been speaking to through TL for years. We went to I think 3 bars before finding a bus at around 2ish to take us back to the hostel for another night. Targe wound up staying at our place at my insistence (thanks for that buddy :p I know it wasn't ideal for you). Before leaving for his own vacation up north with his friends in the morning. Unfortunately, some time during this night I badly hurt my ankle and found myself unable to walk without serious pain the next day, so I spent it resting in our room. I have yet to fully recover and still find myself with a small limp although it is improving. At noon on the 23rd, we boarded a train to Paris to begin the second leg of our journey across the European mainland. Our only plans to check into our hostel and hang out with Erasme tonight, the rest will be improvised and chronicled in my next blog Thanks for reading!

Always cool to hear stories of the TL community helping people make the most of travels :D Sorry to hear about your ankle - get some ibuprofen, ice and elevation (when possible). You could also look into athletic tape or an ankle brace if it seems motion is causing pain (since in my experience walking is pretty important when sightseeing!).
