As the official TeamLiquid article previewing this tournament cleverly dodged any real predictions for how the tournament would actually go, I set out to ask some well known people from the LR threads two important questions: what would the tournament be like, results-wise, and who was the favorite to win? In doing so, I hoped to find out what the general feel was for this tournament, so that it was easier to tell which the events turned out as expected and which were the most surprising.

Note: TheDwf was excluded from this, as his predictions would be too accurate.

Life is the favorite to win obviously but for some reason I don't feel like it's gonna happen. Snute will make it out of that group in a really good run but get thrown into the hardest group and lose out. Maru doesn't make it out of his group.

Parting will win over Rain in the final since Inno dropped out.

hype moment of the tournament: Snute survives the open bracket only to be put in either group C or D

Well I think Protoss will do really well and one of herO, Rain or Classic will win. Life is the only other option but it will be a toss fest O feel. Maru will flop like he mostly does outside of korea. A zerg will make it through ob. ForGG vs. Life won't be as good as people expect and this tournament will be the first showing of Polt to see if he can get back on form but I don't think he will :/.

Well I think that Terran is completely RIP, jjakji wont advance and kas dropped out so we may get ForGG in the brackets but even that is questionable. there will be a lot of swarmhosts, snute will play herO again, sen will make the quarters or semis and herO or Rain will win the whole thing. Something like that.

TaeJa will win... wait never mind he's not here.

Has will eliminate a bunch of fan favorites from the open bracket such as HerO, Sacsri and Leenock, but won't get to the group stages. Snute might, but he'll likely get placed in an awful group where he has little chance of advancing. I'd like to think Sen has a chance of making the RO8, but he probably won't since the open bracket player will probably be lethal to him. Harstem's year hasn't really started yet so he'll get knocked out fairly easily.

I believe that Polt will do surprisingly well. I don't really have evidence but he has a better chance than some of the Koreans already in the group stages. Maru will do OK but will probably lose around the RO8. Same with Hydra, PartinG, and Classic. San will just disappoint. Life will make a deep run, maybe to the finals, along with likely Rain and herO. Hopefully they don't run into each other.

Also, some random player from the Open Bracket that everyone is overlooking, such as Check, will make a RO8 run at least #believe.

I think the typical Korean dominance will occur, but looking at the lineup there seems to be a polarity between the top-level Korean powerhouses like Maru, Parting and herO, and others like Check, Daisy and others.

Life or Parting will do very well here, and Maru will put up a fight and be the best performing Terran. Best foreigner will be Sen. Should be a good tourney though.

Well for me I hoping Maru goes deep, but I think the usual 4 will be there abouts Maru - PartinG - Life - herO/Classic

and then he goes into any group cause they are all groups of death
and goes and 4-0 the group
then 10-0 in playoffs
