Recently I started playing ladder.
Yeah, although I got SC2 shortly after it came out I only just started playing for real.
I mean I did play hundreds of games vs the computer, and the single player campaign. I watched a lot of games and joined in "the community", but I had the ladder fear. Whenever I played it seemed so intense and if I lost I felt frustrated and if I won I almost felt just as bad. Anyway it's a familiar story on TL.
I just want to say I have got over it and realised that SC2 is really a fun game. I''m playing on a laptop now which is less than ideal, but I'm no great player anyway. The funny thing is that I really don't feel that bad if I lose.
I want to say that if you are still stressed out by the ladder, get over that shit and just play games. Win or lose it doesn't matter, and you're really missing out if you are just watching streams rather than playing yourself.
PS: anybody on China server want to add me as a friend?

Yeah, I got a lot of motivation to play when I just treated it as a game.

SC2 is really much fun, especially if you play it with friends/someone else or join a team!

SC2 and RTS games are great fun. I like RA3, CoH1, and SC1 also.
i mainly bought RA3 because of Gina Carano, and then, it turned out to be a great game.

I've started playing protoss to switch it up a bit (started with protoss in WoL, then to zerg, terran and then a bit of all), and I'm really enjoying ladder at the moment. First I was just cheesing the fuck out of people, but now I prefer going macro games.
I'm actually enjoying protoss. But don't tell Olli that

Amen brother. Playing as different races helps as well. Keeps it fresh, and you always have the "it's not my main race" excuse.

Sc2 is the only game that kept me playing for years

Hm, interesting deduction.

Never understood ladder anxiety. Just play the game, and have fun. When you stop having fun go do something else.

Not sure if there is an exact equivalent, but in German we say that you should treat others exactly the way you want to be treated. So don't treat her like a game. And yes, SC2 is a Lady.

I don't fully understand it either. I have played online games for years. I think it is something to do with it being basically a 1v1 game rather than team. I also think the fact a lot of ppl in the SC community like to shit on low league players and have insanely high standards, doesn't help.

To the people who get really anxious playing ladder games: What league are you in when you do play? If you have never done placements, what is stopping you from at least getting placed?
In my experience everyone I tried to get to play SC2 with me that ended up having ladder anxiety placed so much arbitrary significance onto league placement. They were either terrified to be placed in bronze or ended up in bronze and got disheartened every time they lost. "Man I can't even beat people in bronze league there's no way I'll get any better"
People are weird.

Clicking the "Find Match" button is 80% of the battle fighting ladder anxiety. Once you click it the rest is simple.

I had a massive drop in ladder anxiety when I came back to SC2 after playing a ton of Dota2 and Hearthstone. I'm having more fun, and raging (at least somewhat) less. You realize that there's so much more out there in the gaming world (let alone life in general), so as long as you're not trying to make it as a pro, it really doesn't make sense to be concerned with what may or may not happen in any individual game of Starcraft.
In fact, the entire stigmatization of ladder anxiety is a little silly too imo. It's hardly a crime to simply enjoy playing 4v4s or Nexus Wars or something more than one enjoys ranked 1v1s. After all, plenty of people feel the same way; join just about any lobby in the arcade and you see plenty of people with really low character levels but super high stats in whatever that UMS is. It's pretty easy to lose sight of the super-casual community, especially on a site like this that focuses pretty much exclusively on the competitive 1v1 aspect.
