I accidentally brought in a small green inchworm with me into the dorms and I wish to keep him as a pet. My dorms do not allow pets however, so I need to keep this private.
I currently do not have leaves, but I do have cups and some nutri-grain bars (with strawberry filling inside). Can my inchworm eat nutrigrain, or is sugar not good for him. I wouldn't want him to be unhealthy. Next time I go outside, I plan on grabbing some leaves for him to eat, but do they have to be green? Will my inchworm eat brown leaves too?
Do you guys think he would prefer a plastic or paper cup to live in? I might fill a cup up with dirt and twigs and leaves later.

lol. I found 5 of these amongst my weeds a week ago when I was picking them. They went into the trash with the weeds O.O . I imagine only green leaves will do. GL keeping him alive >.>

You should start planning the funeral then. I say that he deserves a proper viking funeral; it's only fitting that someone that close to you gets a respectful ceremony to honor his death.

Idk where he came from. I just happened to notice he was crawling on my pants when I entered my dorm. From then it was either build him a home, or murder him and throw him away. And I'm no murderer...

I guess put in whatever green leaves you can find and see what he eats. I used to see tons of those on shower trees.

Be sure to get him spayed/neutered.

For real though many caterpillars only eat very specific plants, if you just give it leaves there is a good chance it'll just starve.
If you found it on a plant then that is probably its preferred food source, if not then trial and error.

Ok guys, problem. Inchy's brother is nowhere to be found after placing in cup on windowsill. I've filled said cup with many leaves and grass and a twig. What more could he want? I hope he didn't drown in the bit of water below. Inchy's still busy exploring the top outer rim of the cup, but the cup itself has a small indention that he's crawling in. I'm afraid that if he were to crawl into some water stuck in the indention, he'd drown too. I have to empty this cup now and search for Inchy's brother in the meantime.
Edit: Good news, I found him. He's a little wet, as he was half in the water, covered by other leaves in the cup. I can't say for sure if he would have drowned. Also I saved Inchy from being trapped in the cup indention. Both of these guys like climbing up walls, especially Inchy. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be more creative in putting my food so it's reachable from the ceiling, so that Inchy doesn't climb up there and starve. Also less water this time so I don't have to worry about them drowning.
