Just watched IEM finals, first competitive SC2 ive watched in over a year and i havent played in longer.
I never cared about balance, i just wanted the game to be entertaining, it wasnt and i stopped playing and watching because of it, i honestly had more fun with the "age of" titles and other things.
Coming off an insane CS:GO tournament of which i have played very very little (alot less then SC2) which i enjoyed so fricken much, high skill, loads to enjoy etc, even the finals which was almost as big a stomp as the SC2 one were alot more entertaining. I actively play LoL now and i skipped it in favor of watching some CS.
I guess the point of this blog is that im sad SC2 still seems so dull to me, i was flabbergasted at the crappy games and it did not inspire me at all to buy hots and play it. I fucking love RTS but SC2 is really not for me it seems, which is a complete shame as it seems to have the monopoly on a dying market.
SC2, The next time i decide to watch you, please be enjoyable

You can't look at a cheesy PvP finals and say SC2 isn't enjoyable to watch. Almost all the other series was insane, with comebacks and amazing plays.
|
I can tell you, that while you didn't watch, there were a lot of enjoyable games. This clearly leads to the conclusion, that the fact you were watching lead to this series, which means, I would appreciate if you refrain from watching any more SC2, to keep it fun for everybody else.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation

Why do you make this decision on the game based on one series
|
Lol mahrgell.
I understand that probably every other series in the tournament was more entertaining but to tune in and see that was really disappointing, the only entertainment came from game 4 (5? gonna say 5) micro battle which was a result of more cheese :D
Im not singling out the game because of this bad series, i quit it along time ago because of lack of enjoyment watching and playing but to give it another look and see this is extremely disheartening and i think i'll stay away for now

It's joke because you decided to judge a game based on one series. But if you don't like SC2 that's your right and opinion. Just wish you hadn't made a random ass blog about it based on one series.

Some finals suck and can't please everyone. Asking players to play in a way that your find amazing is not really what the game is all about. Some finals are better than others.
Welcome to the world of competitive everything.

:D If you dont like it dont read. No need to be so salty when i wasnt saying anything bad about SC2 at all. Like, i wasnt being rude or calling SC2 bad, i didnt even "judge" it like you all claim i did.
Someone quite aptly put it in the LR thread that those stream numbers were heavily bolstered by CS:GO / LoL fans because of the short downtime and interest. That many new/old viewers being subjected to that isnt likely to attract much interest.

One finals that isnt nail biting with insanely close games and a 4-3 series and everyone acts like the entire game is complete shit. There were SOOOOOOOOOOO many close games and series the entire weekend, please don't make a fucking post when all you watched was one series.

Nah, we are fine and looking forward to the next event. Those who are whining about a lack luster finals just didn't watch enough GSL during WoL

Then you know what a lack luster final is and that is has nothing to do with SC2. Any game can have a lack luster finals.

yeah imo the games were kinda meh but the series as a whole was great. I like mindgames and the mental aspect of a series and sOs did it so well I just can't dislike those finals.
Do try that best games of 2014 so far, its full of good stuff.

It's unfortunate the most people judge a tournament by the finals. This was an amazing IEM tournament.
Sometimes players (or teams) just don't perform as well as they could (HerO could have really changed the dynamic of the finals by simply scouting the first two games...).
I also felt the CS:GO finals were a bit one sided...
|
Honestly, this was a pretty average tournament, at best. I think you'd have more fun watching the VODs of the recent IEM Cologne. Those games were possibly the best I have ever seen from a weekend tournament.

Well, ok, thx for stopping by.

It's pretty known since HotS Release that games in Ro8 and Ro4 are way better than Grand Finals.

You keep replying in this blog darkhorse but it seems you didnt read it properly.
Did you miss the parts where i mentioned playing and watching it for a long time (basically all of WoL) and losing my passion and stopping then, only to return to more disappointment
Or perhaps the part where i say the next time i watch you SC2, maybe where i openly admit the finals being crappy games (and therefore not the standard) instead?
Clearly, decided so very, very quickly.
What really happened in here is i made a blog after a shitty finals and a bunch of pissy fans came in and started shit-talking me like i was denouncing SC2 as a shit-game. Which is probably to be expected after such a shitty finals. I think naniwas onto something with his whole SC2 community rant.
Well, either way, emotions were clearly very raw after the finals and it effected reading comprehension and manners but like i said, i expected nothing less.

There were a lot of really enjoyable series in IEM Katowice, the finals just happened to be the worst of them all (except Nanirage series and herO blinking non-stop in PvT, they were pretty much all amazing). Don't judge by the shitty finals.

This is really funny. My friend just told me that I should watch these finals because he thought I would enjoy them (I don't watch SC2).
Though maybe I'll watch the games Zealously posted.

@op - you were unlucky to begin watching competitive sc2 just when it was the most brutal; sOsick generally plays superb starcraft and is regarded as one of the brighter minds that amaze with their playstyle but yesterday there was no room for entertainment; there was a shitload of money at stake and they both wanted it badly, easily understandable; sOs went for the kill.
If you research around you can find players that are absolutely exhilarating to watch and seeing them play is one of the best ways to spend an evening. Try Life, Scarlett, Polt, San, Soulkey, watch some JD from his broodwar days, check out the gsl matches etc. Watching them play just makes you want to learn sc2 and push yourself to master it. Then it will become the sweetest addiction.

No i'm going to get round to it, i have them saved for when i get an itch to watch next. Was busy watching the LoL finals (which were almost as bad) afterwards.
