EPTI've been reading various forums and blogs here on TL for a while now, but have never felt compelled to participate. Why do I now? Well... that's kinda the point of this post I guess.

This "tourney" is probably the best thing I've come across on the internetz for a while now. The propaganda posts just have so much personality, and are so friendly and light-hearted. It's really amazing to see people having such genuine fun in such a transparent way online, and it's incredibly inviting to people like myself who are outside of this community. I was surprised when I realized how much I cared about reading all of the propaganda, and even the comments, despite having no intention of voting simply because they were guaranteed fun. So thanks and GJ lichter.

I promised more in the title, so I guess I'm committed.
How difficult is it to change the world in a big way? I've heard countless people, particularly entertainers, say that positively impacting just one person validates their work for them, and I understand and recognize the importance of these small "world-changers", but I've come to realize that I want to do something big.
I want to restore democracy in the United States by taking the power from lobbyists and corporations and giving it back to the general public. I want to create a sustainable, thriving economy by rewriting the tax-code and bank regulations among other things. I want to convince people to stop discriminating based on irrelevant qualities like race and gender. I want to make a government that focuses on issues rather then money and re-election. I want to develop a technology or product that helps with one or more of these things. I don't know what I want to do, but I know I want to do it.
Do any of you have similar aspirations? Similar confusions? If I think I might be able to make a major positive change in the world am I obligated to? Am I arrogant for thinking that my goal is a "positive" change?
I know this got kinda deep, but it's something I've been thinking a lot about recently and I'm curious about what other people think. If you're curious about what inspired this or want some good viewing material, take a look at Code Geass and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Both are anime, but even if you don't watch anime I would recommend at least trying them.
