I flew down to New York City last weekend for the Red Bull Battle Grounds. Red Bull held a meet and greet on Friday before the tournament. My flight arrived just early enough to catch some of that, and I got to meet Day[9] in person. A small mob, all eager to meet their idol, had assembled around him when he stepped out to mingle. He took the time to chat with each of them in turn. It was quite fun to watch. His body language alone exudes laughter and excitement.
When my chance came up, we opened with the usual introductions--"Hi, I'm Sean" and so forth. Then Sean just kinda stood there, patiently waiting for me to break the ice.
To be honest, I hadn't actually planned out the encounter beyond the initial "Meet Day[9]" part. Socially awkward nerd that I am, it didn't occur to me that I might require actual conversation topics.
So I blurted out the first thing that came to mind: "I've been watching your Daily for years!" Though the Day[9] Daily is no longer a regular part of my evening ritual, it was instrumental, back in the day, in propelling me out of noob league and getting me hooked on eSports. Indeed, my very first post here on TeamLiquid was a homage to one of his Funday Monday episodes.
Sean ran with that. "So what would you like to see on the Daily?" He leaned in closer, grinning. "Would you like to see more Hearthstone?"
"Hearthstone?" I laughed. "I just wish I had a beta key."
Sean chuckled, apologizing for Blizzard's stinginess with their beta keys. I suspect neither of us knew at the time that they'd be dolling out the things like Halloween candy at the event that weekend. But I digress. We had a pleasant conversation, snapped a photo for posterity, and then I headed out to take care of dinner.
When I sat down to check my e-mail that night, there was a message from Blizzard Entertainment at the top of my gaming inbox: "Welcome to the Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Beta Test".
I blinked, clicking open the message. It wasn't spam or a stupid phishing scheme. It was an actual working beta key from Blizzard. Ordinarily, I would merely have dismissed it as a pleasant coincidence.
Then I took a closer look at the timestamp on the e-mail.
It was sent out while I was talking to Day[9], wishing for a Hearthstone beta key in a little downtown New York bar. Such an astronomically improbable alignment of events can have only one reasonable explanation.
Wishes made upon Day[9] really do come true.

We need to have someone sneak up on Day9 and rub his forehead to confirm this.

You mean belly. Rub his belly.

I had a Chinese girl rub my belly once. She thought it looked cute underneath my TL hoodie

Obviously, it's magic!
The fact that Battle.net accounts are also e-mail addresses probably helped a little. But mostly the magic thing.
You know, it occurs to me that this is an excellent alternate theory to the old "Day[9] is a Muppet" hypothesis. Being a genie would explain both his frequent lack of legs and his magical wish granting abilities!
