lol has pretty similar asshole to player ratios at every skill level to dota. except more people, so you can get more assholes in any given game and its less of an outlier. thats about it.

Sometimes you will have people that try extremely hard to be manner. I played a captain's draft game where 3 other members were trying their hardest to be nice to a feeding broodmother who couldn't offlane and didn't say a single thing the entire game aside from the beginning when he called broodmother.

I don't know why, but in LoL they take it personally when they get ganked, and start typing in all chat "Zed 1v1 me u noob" or some crap. Almost as if they don't understand that ganking is part of the game and 1v1 is where true skill is. Mind you, this is unranked PvP, but still... by lvl 20s you should know this by now....

I've played LoL before I've started playing DotA2 (once the beta appeared) and I have to say that LoL is waaaaaaaaay worse than DotA community. I mean, you can meet russians in game that will flame you with cyka spam or some other crap but in LoL once they start flaming in the picking phase "mid, im mid or i feed u stupid newb" bla bla, then pretend to afk/leave/feed when not given the proper lane and flame u in game 24/7.

That doesn't happen in DotA. I mean there are plenty of badmanners in every damn game but hey... :\

Just ignore the bros. You can even enjoy it and troll them back if you want.
The fun thing is that msot of the time the fact that they are bros is not correlated to their skill in the team, so sometimes you have a bad player that start insulting you, and it just feels good ( like when your opponent say "maphacker" in sc2)

if ur solo queuing in dota ever, you have to focus on your own play 100%. i find that at the first sign of flame or discontent within ur own team, you should just mute everybody and concentrate on playing - text communication is vastly overrated. pinging and drawing on the map should do just fine in a regular pub.

the real secret to dota/lol/dota-likes in general is to stack, not be a toxic asshole in pubs so you can make friends, stack and STACK. seriously if you aren't playing with friends over voice comms you are missing out on at least 50% of what makes the game amazing.

I mute the bros as soon as they anger me the first time. Sometimes I'll queue with friends who don't, and they'll get sucked down into the garbage disposal of trashy bro antics. When this happens, I always play better/have more fun games than them. Use that mute button quickly and without prejudice.

Also, it's really nice when I end up in a game with somebody who's still muted. I'll unmute them, tell them that, and they're basically on a "one strike" rule...it actually kind of enforces better behavior because not often are there ramifications for them outside that single game

Well shit. I was thinking about jumping shit to DotA under the assumption that it's more 'pure' since it has a smaller playerbase. What makes you say this?

And since I started playing LoL in May, I still get amazed almost everyday at how disgusting the toxicity and rage is. I haven't seen more literal all caps rage, whining, immaturity and just general fucking idiocy as I have in LoL in any other multiplayer game ever. This includes the old Korean arcades in the mid to late 90's before the big PC bang wave, where punk fucking Korean teenagers and young men would kick chairs from under you and start fights over losing in King of Fighters.
