Phalanx's Daily #74: Suddenly the zerg

PS I'm cheating out a bit today by posting a very short game

Johnson, the lovable 1-st scouting probe! Dream profession is Aiur Head Chef.


Mike the stalker. Hardest working of them all, and single-handedly preventing scouting and pressure, while receiving the least credit.


Emily, the mothership core. Has a secret love for education, but quickly gets out of hand and fires photons all over the place if pissed off.


Snowden, the sneaky observer, watching out for the protoss race. He checks your computer history too.


Clyde, the zealot. Often times forgotten about due to cutting corners in the early game, and is always brought around in clutch situations.

So today's game is a PvZ on Neo Planet S. I start out just as per usual, pylon at the natural's choke soon to be followed off by the well off.



I try to be as annoying as possible with Johnson at the zerg's natural, although I don't delay the expansion by too long.


Lets dance!

Johnson's waiting around for later so that he can scout for the 3rd, but quite unfortunately gets spotted by zergling. Oh noes!


I'm too young to die!!!

At right around 5minutes Johnson is killed in the line of duty... not quite having been able to confirm the 3rd. I decide to just play as usual, guessing that he's going for a normal build as well.



Turns out that my guess was way wrong since he had a roach warren on the way and no 3rd base at all... sigh. I suppose that I could have kept my probe in a little bit longer (before lings were out) to check for gasses as well... although checking for the 3rd really is what's critical. I've decided that if I don't get a confirmed scout on the 3rd i'll play defensively rather than greedy, as I did in this game.


Noooo I lose the guessing game .

Now I got roaches knocking at my door... 3rd expansions are in fact not very good at killing off allins.


A lone sentry and zealot... all that I had.

I basically get straight up overrun by that first wave of units... since I went for super greedy stargate play and mis-read my enemy I had no defenses at all, even just to stall. I must say, losing the scouting probe REALLY hurts. Still gotta work on that in PvZ since scouting is the only thing that keeps me alive.


Well that was a fast GG...

So yeah, a pathetic loss due to a simply scouting mistake. Pro tip, don't assume and then proceed to be super super greedy.
