EPTI have written two songs, one around 6 years ago and one about 5. I want feedback on the song that I wrote 5 years ago. Positive or negative, I'm trying hard to put things into perspective with my music.

 I just started learning the piano so I am a complete music noob but your work sounds really good. Did you play both instruments yourself or only the piano?I had no idea you can compose by ear? That's so amazing, would love to hear how you go about doing that. Good work on the song  | ||

The other thing I would suggest would be take your favorite songs or pieces, and start deconstructing them to see how they function, and why. That's how I originally began to learn how to write music, by trying to understand composers like Mendelssohn and Beethoven and Mozart (but heck, go ahead and analyze Radiohead too, all of this stuff is universally applicable). | ||

Good work on the song Actually it was my ex fiance on the violin, originally it was just a piano piece but she wanted me to add a violin part for her, so I did. it was hard because I never wrote anything down for her I just kinda had to explain to her what I wanted her to play. A few parts that aren't exactly what I had in mind for the violin but it's ok. As far as writing by ear, I'm not sure I just kinda play till it sounds like what I want it to sound like and then remember what I played. | ||
