New to both these forums and to SC2. I started playing SC2 about a month ago now, and considering how the last RTS I played was Warcraft 3 (single player only), many years ago, I'm not doing too bad. As I write this, I reside in the top 8 of my bronze league division and am still climbing (I was initially placed around 50th iirc). I can thank Day[9] and the Daily for this improvement. Anyway, more about SC2 later. First, why?
I am what you might call a collector of skills, a term I heard from Adam Savage. I like to learn (freaky, I know), especially how to do things. I'm an under grad maths student, I'm learning to program (with the goal to enter the games industry), I'm learning Japanese, I want to learn many other languages (Korean, Chinese and Icelandic are the main ones. Icelandic just sounds awesome.), I can solve a Rubik's cube, I know a handful of pen spinning tricks (pun intended), blah blah blah. I'm not amazing at any of these things, but that's not why I do them. SC2 is my latest endeavour in this regard. Of course, I'd love to be a Grandmaster and winning tournaments, but I'm under no illusions of that happening, so for now my sights are set on Gold league. When I get to Gold league, I'll set my sights higher, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
So that's pretty much who I am. Feel free to say hi, and if you want to play some SC2, send me a PM. I'm looking for people to play with, but no coaches or "practice partners" please. My life fluctuates too much to pin down times to play and my attention span too short to train rigorously. Having said that, I do of course want to improve so I do welcome people better than me to play with/against.
See you on the ladder!
