Phalanx's Daily #67:

Johnson, the lovable 1-st scouting probe! Dream profession is Aiur Head Chef.


Mike the stalker. Hardest working of them all, and single-handedly preventing scouting and pressure, while receiving the least credit.


Emily, the mothership core. Has a secret love for education, but quickly gets out of hand and fires photons all over the place if pissed off.


Snowden, the sneaky observer, watching out for the protoss race. He checks your computer history too.

The match is on Korhal Sky Island and the match up is a PvRandom. I open up with a pylon by the assimilator to allow for a gateway wall-off if the enemy happens to be a zerg (all dem random zergs go for zergling rushes). Johnson goes out to scout at 9 and quickly sees for me that I am facing a P.



I scout nothing out of the ordinary for the opening, so I decide to proceed as normal with my blink build. For good measure I sneak Johnson around the corners of his base so that I can scout later on.


Hiding probes like a pro!

I soon throw down my twilight council along with my initial units to scout/deny scouting. Emily flies along in, and i scout the 3 gates. I think great, it's some sort of 3gate pressure. that shouldn't be too bad. Somehow, that twilight council didn't get into my eye sight. I tooooootally failed to react to it after my MSC scout.


Pff that's nothing, just part of the scenery.

Thank god that I kept Johnson hidden in the corner, because I poked out with him later to find that my enemy placed down a DT shrine. To that, my reaction was pretty straight forward; get a robo.


Hai luk I fund sumtin.

Sadly, I forgot to hide Johnson again right after spotting the shrine, so he was slaughtered by the enemy's defenses :'(.
I slipped up a good deal on the chrono boosts on the blink research, but it was ok since I needed the chrono for Snoden to come out. I also used my stalkers to check around for proxies, finding his probe along the way.


Intruder alert! Shoot on sight!

To conclude the early game, my 2 scouting stalkers found his single proxy pylon, and Snowden popped out of the robo right as his DT hit my ramp. No damage was taken, and my enemy started to expand... a tasty treat against an all-in player.

After cleaning up his proxy. I rushed over to his base with all of my blink stalkers. He didn't have any immortals out when my first stalkers hit because he instead decided to go for a DT drop. I guess that he didn't anticipate me to have blink. His mothership core had enough energy for about 2 Photon overcharges, and I forced the first one quite fast at his natural.


Well darn, we can't attack that nexus.... KILL THE PYLON!!! for justice!

After the overcharge at the natural, I quickly blink up into his main base. I start poking away only to be greeted by a 2nd overcharge.


My eye! My eye!!!

The enemy's DT drop hits my main. I have an observer on stand by so I have quick detection, but I didn't expect anything like it so my reaction is a little bit slow. Photon overcharge cleans up the DTs, but I do get dealt quite a number in probes lost.



I assume that my enemy forgot about his robo because he still hadn't made a single immortal... which would have made my push so much weaker. As soon as the natural's overcharge wears off I attack with my mediocre blink micro.


Uhhh.... so we blink away when we're damaged? or when we're perfectly fine? perfectly fine, right?

He simply overmade probes when he needed to create defenses, and his greed results in his loss. The probes are pulled for a last ditch attempt to live on but he GGs out.
