EPTSo yeah, just wanted to say its my favorite public holiday because fireworks are one of my favorite things in the world. It's kind of weird though, for a guy who likes less rowdy types of gatherings, I'm a huge fireworks fan. Everything from their actual sound, to the satisfying pop after the sound of their explosion, to the colors, the after colors, the after glow, and even the after-shock in the ears when the coup-de-grace has finished. Fireworks are something I'll drop everything and see about 99.9% of the time haha.
Another thing, besides patriotism (not American Exceptionalism, because fuck that >.>) the general feel of being part of the a diverse and uniquely patched together group of people feels really great when you see a group of pretty much every ethnicity you can think of get together and watch the fireworks and have a couple brewskys together. It isn't something you'd normally see every day of the week, even in a country that has been blessed with enormous domestic peace since the end of the 90's.
Finally, just have fun guys, be safe, watch out for sobriety check points, and even if you aren't 'MURIKAN or in 'MURIKA, its an extra day to drink your head off, so why not
.Also, sidenote, for anyone here who lives in the South, like I do, everything is fucking closed so we all have no choice but to celebrate it!
